I have a bigger issue with Hyde having 9 less carries than Jordan Hall than I do with Boom starting.

Why? Hall did a fine job running the ball. The running backs we put in there worked out pretty well, getting about 5 yards a pop.I have a bigger issue with Hyde having 9 less carries than Jordan Hall than I do with Boom starting.
Hall didn't have the hot hand in the first place. He had 35 touches against Sparty and Nebraska and didn't do shit, yet he was spelling Boom in the 1st quarter rather than a guy who went for 100+ yards and 2 TDs the previous week. It's completely illogical.JXC;2015254; said:Why? Hall did a fine job running the ball. The running backs we put in there worked out pretty well, getting about 5 yards a pop.
I feel like each game is different, and it's tough to take the ball out of the hot hands.
Maybe Hall had a better week in practice? Kind of tough to argue with the results this game. Hall ran the ball better than he has in weeks. Maybe the plan was to get Hyde in there earlier, but the way the game turned out, it just wasn't the right move. The decisions of the coaching staff won us the game, so it's hard for me to argue with them.Hall didn't have the hot hand in the first place. Which is why I said put Boom in by the second or third series. And I don't think its baffling, just not the best call.jlb1705;2015248; said:Herron served a six-game suspension. How much longer did it need to be to send the right message? He served his suspension in full and upon his return was still the best option at his position. I don't see why it's so baffling that he got the nod.
Maybe this would have been a better move politically or in the locker room. But to be honest, Boom dominated that first drive, and getting those three points held up all half. Without that first drive, it is a whole different ball game in my opinion. So this decision may have just won us the game.Which is why I said put Boom in by the second or third series. When I'm the coach of a BCS conference team I'll do it that way.
Helluva good point.JXC;2015264; said:Maybe this would have been a better move politically or in the locker room. I do like what Hyde brings to the running game. He still needs a lot of polish and maturity before he becomes the feature back at Ohio State, but hopefully he keeps battling and working hard instead of worrying how many carries he is getting his freshman year, or Sophomore year, whichever it is. You haven't seen other freshman/sophomores tweeting about playing time, even ones who got benched.
dragurd;2015270; said:The problem with Hall spelling Boom in my opinion is more of they are very similar style backs. Hyde brings a different element. He's big and fast and can move a pile. Plus as been said he's been doing much better then Hall the last few weeks. Him going from the man to 3rd string mop of time just cause boom came back is an illogical decision.
Ohio State football notebook: Hyde gets support after negative tweet
By Tim May
The Columbus Dispatch Wednesday October 19, 2011
Tweeting can be a fleeting experience, but not when others retweet. Take the case of Ohio State tailback Carlos Hyde.
In the aftermath of the team?s win at previously unbeaten Illinois on Saturday, it wasn?t difficult to see Hyde was unhappy. After registering his first 100-yard game the week before at Nebraska, he was third chair behind senior Daniel Herron, returning from a six-game suspension, and junior Jordan Hall at Illinois. And while Herron rushed 23 times for 114 yards and Hall 12 times for 56, Hyde got just three carries, for eight yards.
Hyde tweeted soon after the game: ?Guess I?m not good enough. Take myself else where.?
He withdrew the entry a little later, but by then it had been retweeted ? he has almost 2,000 followers.
?You have to watch what you put on Twitter, Facebook and stuff, but I don?t think it will create a rift anywhere,? fullback Zach Boren said. ?He knows he has to keep on working hard and getting better just like Jordan and (Herron) and everyone else in the RB room.?
