RB Bri'onte Dunn (dismissed from team)

:boom:
with the number of people that can carry the ball in this offense, I doubt a spare gets many carries depending on health, unless there are a lot of blowouts. We certainly are able to use 2 pairs, but the QB, HB, select WRs AND the RB gets carries in this offense. So versatile.
Good points. The only thing I can say is, I'd like to have Coach's problems if only for five minutes. I can't wait for September!

GO BUCKS!!

BRI'ONTE DUNN HAS HIS BEST CHANCE YET TO BE A FACTOR AT RUNNING BACK

With all the talk of preseason All-Americans and a legit shot at repeating as national champs, a potential sleeper of a feel-good story could emerge in the Ohio State backfield if Bri'onte Dunn can finally make a significant impact at running back after arriving on campus way back in 2012 as a Scout five-star recruit out of Canton GlenOak.

Despite his lofty blue-chip status, Dunn racked up a meager 34 carries for 196 yards due to factors ranging from guys named Carlos Hyde and Ezekiel Elliott joining him on the roster combined with what was suggested by many as a lazy and disinterested approach to the game. In fact, after logging 25 totes for 133 yards as a freshman, Dunn redshirted in 2013 in large part because of his attitude.

FORMER HIGHLY-TOUTED RECRUITS WITH SOMETHING TO PROVE IN FALL CAMP

BRI'ONTE DUNN
A four-star recruit ranked in the top ten at his position, Dunn did not make a significant on-field impact in his first three years at Ohio State. Carlos Hyde and Ezekiel Elliott made it difficult to do so.

At the very least, Dunn enters 2015 as an important depth piece. He is the second-string running back according to Meyer, and, as our Chris Lauderback wrote in July, Dunn is a great candidate for a breakout season.

Elliott sat out spring practice while recovering from wrist surgery and Dunn took snaps with the first team. As a result of that and his contributions to special teams in 2014, Meyer is now praising the junior back.

"Bri'onte Dunn's got a little momentum going in his world," he said, in April. "He's got some momentum right now and it's showing up on the field."

Ohio State notebook: Former GlenOak star Bri’onte Dunn takes momentum into junior season
osunotes18-01.jpg

Bri’onte Dunn can sense his momentum.

During spring practice, the Ohio State running back got the majority of the carries for the defending national champions. Starter Ezekiel Elliott had undergone his second wrist surgery and Curtis Samuel moved to H-back. Dunn had proved himself on special teams and it finally seemed time for the OSU junior, a two-time Division I all-state selection at GlenOak High School.

“He floated around here for a couple years and did nothing. And I mean nothing,” Ohio State coach Urban Meyer told Cleveland.com in April. “Now we’re getting good progress reports in the classroom. He has momentum.”

With fall camp barely more than a week old, Dunn is considered second string on the depth chart behind Elliott, among the 2015 Heisman Trophy favorites. Offensive coordinator Ed Warinner expects Dunn to add to his career total of 196 rushing yards in two seasons.

“We’re counting on him to be a guy who can play,” Warinner said Sunday at Ohio State’s Media Day. “He’s efficient as a runner and physical and has some skills. We like where he’s at.”

Maybe he can be the depth of talent that we knew Rod Smith could have been. Get him some reps beginning of the year and when we get to the middle of the season he should produce well and take the load off Zeke Elliot and spare his health towards the end of the year when we get as party, TSUN and post season play.

Oddly, he red shirted his sophomore year (2013) as to not spend it behind Carlos Hyde; thus giving him "potentially" another year to start/play significant time in 2014 (and beyond) and along comes Ezekiel Elliot.

Last year (2014) he did have some injury issues: http://www.landgrantholyland.com/20...te-dunn-injury-ohio-state-rb-out-w-leg-injury

Ezekiel Elliott won't be on the field on every play, he just needs to "step up" and make the best of his opportunities (and he should have some) this year.
