Rashan "LLL" Gary (DL Green Bay Packers)

Yeah, she's been like that since day 1. I heard there was an altercation with her and Ole Miss security on their visit a week or two ago. Something about them not having the proper credentials to get to a certain area of the stadium. Heard the security officer shoved her or something.

Anyone else find it odd for parents to be speaking for their children?
Bump.
As I said previously, if the decision was purely up to Rashan, Ohio State might have a decent chance in this recruitment given Cooper and the staff's efforts to develop a relationship.

However, after his mother's bizarre comments following their brief visit to OSU, it seems like he will be pushed strongly to an SEC school by his support system.

I honestly don't think him returning to OSU without his mother is really all that great of a development unless he is planning on going against her wishes.

Since UM is seemingly in a much better situation in terms of comfort and relationships with his former HC on staff, I'm actually not upset with this situation.

I recommend pumping the brakes on this one while sitting back on letting UM get their hopes up before being burned by an SEC school last minute Da'Shawn Hand style.

It will be a much more enjoyable recruitment that way.

He may very well just be a bashful kid too. He might not like the attention and could very well get nervous like a lot of kids do.
I get that but only one way to get better at it too... never understand the over bearing over protected approach myself but to each of their own. I think it's a shame when kids are swayed by their own parents where they should go.

That's why I applaud McDowell from MSU. He made his own decision and did what he knew would make him happiest. It wasn't osu but at least he did it HIS way.

Yep. Arkansas RB Alex Collins agrees with you too.

Rashan seems like a great kid. Very polite, down to earth. He trusts his mother and he and his mother want someone they can trust, will take care of him, protect him, and make sure he has a great future. Who would not want that for their kid. Having that much attention can get a teenager in all kinds of problems and she wants to make sure she filters some of the junk out there and shield him and let him focus on his school. Believe me, she knows her kid better than anyone else.

He just seems a little too hands off than I'm accustomed to. Besides he's the one that has has to go to the school for 3 years at least. Hopefully she's just there to bounce things off of that he's thinking about. However I get the feeling (due to her doing the interviews and not her 5 star son) that it's not like that.

Sometimes parents do know best. Schools tell kids whatever the heck they want to hear, and try to pull the wool over their eyes and do whatever possible to get a kid to their respective school. I give props to parents who are actually engaged in the recruiting process. Keyshawn Johnson is doing the same for his son and I applaud that, why would he put his kid in a position to fail at a school? I don't see Rashans Mon doing anything but wanting the best for her son, and I doubt any coaches or fans would want the same for any recruit if it's not their child. The Elliot's, Apples, Darron Lees mom are just a few OSU parents who were also active in their kids recruiting and even when their kid got on campus

I get that.... but their parents don't seem to dominate the scene like this. I get being there to give him advice and wade through the bull crap but this is a little different.

Just a observation though and it's not like I'm appalled by it or anything. Just find it really unusual that the parent is speaking for her son the majority of the time. Wherever he goes I'll be keeping an eye on his career but I just hope that career is where he enjoyed most and not the most calculated decision.

There are kids that don't do any interviews at all when it comes to recruiting. In this case the players mom does the interviews. Is she calling Scout, Rival, 247, or are they calling her for updates on how his trips (which she attends) went.
