QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Once Pryor develops as a passer enough where other teams can't load the box against him he will be damn near unstoppable.

Yesterday it was obvious the whole game that tsun was loading the box and manning up on the edge daring us to pass the ball. While Pryor did hit a few long passes, he also overthrew a few balls and held on to the ball entirely too long on several occasions leading to sacks.

Once Pryor develops enough to consistently burn man coverage and blitzes with the passing game a pity the defensive coordinator who has to game plan against him.

It will also help to have more dynamic WRs like Posey who can burn the one-on-one against elite teams.

I am now officially incredibly excited for his last game of the year.

Whoever we play, I think Pryor might play like he's never played before. I think we can all agree that he has improved tremendously throughout the season. With a long layover, I think he might improve more than imaginable.
I would simply love to see our opponent key in on Beanie 24/7 like PSU did against us with so much success- forcing the young, true freshman, running QB to beat them with his arm... And then to have Pryor do that, for 5 passing TD's  . And I really think something like that is possible. Maybe not 5 TD's... But a lot of aerial attacks that force defenses to shy away from loading the box.

First of all, to do that, you have to have the guys calling those plays. If we run into an outmanned front all day like against PSU and have 3rd and long, it won't be so easy for Pryor.
Burn them on first down a few times, and they will shy away from loading the box.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL INSIDER
Pryor's true value greater than sum of his numbers

Columbus- When you install a freshman quarterback as the starter on a team loaded with veteran talent on defense, and aided by what should have been a Heisman Trophy candidate at running back, you do something very nice for that quarterback.
You almost hand him Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
Terrelle Pryor hasn't yet completed 100 passes in his college career, has reached double-digit completions in just four games, and has yet to top 200 yards passing in a victory. But he's almost certainly going to win that award tonight, when the All-Big Ten teams and other conference awards are announced on the Big Ten Network at 7:30 p.m.

Possibly this is in the game thread, but did anyone else see that scUM player late hit Pryor on the INT he threw in the first series? Pryor knocked the ball carrier out of bounds, and then some scUM player came up and cheap-shotted Pryor to the ground. Of the two closest refs, one had his back to what happened (can't say I blame him, given how late after the play was over that this happened) and the other seemingly was looking right at what happened but didn't throw a flag.

I was just wondering if anyone else saw this (I'm not even sure it would have been shown on the telecast), and what their thoughts were. To me, it seemed like one of the biggest cheap shots I've ever witnessed.

I think Pryor was on a short leash this year. His talent at PASSING in unbelievable but he was trying not to make a mistake. Every time he needed to pass he could find an open receiver. OK, he under-estimated Stevie Brown but that just shows he studies a lot of film. The one real down moment for him was against PSU. That play was one lucky poke away from being the next Holy Buckeye... 4th and short and it busts for a touchdown, OSU is Rose Bowl bound and trying to sneak into the championship game. Next Year is going to be magic.

Where do I start?

His passing talent: Passing and throwing are two different things. Pryor is still throwing the ball. Boeckman passes the ball. It was like night and day during the Michigan game when Boeckman came into the game and was passing. Compare the two in that game and tell me which one's PASSING was unbelievable.

The fumble: I think the defender had a hold of his cape..er jersey when he punched the ball free. This is why Terrelle could not get the ball. Even if he does not get the ball punched away, I think he gets tackled for a loss on that play. At worse the defender would have held he long enough for the backs to get him. No TD for TP on that play.

Every time he needed to pass he could find an open receiver.: I will hold judgement on this until I can see a game from the end zone to see what receivers are open on pass plays. Right now I can not see if he is not seeing open receivers.

trying to sneak into the championship game.: NO!!! Voters would not vote Ohio State high enough to get there. They would have voted any one loss team higher just so Ohio State would not get to the NC game again.

I think Terrelle will be a great quarterback in the future. He is not great now. Lets not make him out to be that yet.

Totally see what your saying here, but Pryor has shown some flashes of great passing here and there. I think with the lay off, we should expexct big things in the bowl game. Pryors TD pass to Hartline was perfect, just as good as Beocks TD pass to Hartline. However, Beocks pass to Robo was the best pass all day, absolutely beautiful. That dude can do great things when he has time. Damn, makes me wonder "what if..."

Exactly, TB has some time in the pocket, he doesn't get benched. TP gets worked in particular situations (not only running either, but that's what the D's would think first). Even with a hurt Beaine, the USC game is a lot closer with a good performance from the O-line, maybe still a loss, but who knows, that pick 6 and sack-fumble hurt us bad. Penn State is a win in the above situation, I think.

I agree. I think he will also make a big improvement in the off season in reading defenses. I would love to see how great his runs will be when the Defense is worried about his passing.

It was 3rd and 1 in the PSU game. Not a chance in hell that JT is going for a 4th and 1 in his own territory with a 6-3 lead in the 4th quarter against a top 10 team. NOT... A... CHANCE... Also, no chance that goes for a TD. He had 15-20 yards ahead of him, but no TD.

Pryor has work to do in the passing game. But, he's shown moments that are very promising. Remember, when Troy first saw action, he was a red-shirt freshman. That's 2 fall practices and a spring practice, which is 3 times that of TP. He'll be awesome.

Troy was a redshirt sophomore...
