I think it is a factor in tOSU's poor performance in the last two NC games. However, I think it might be a good thing this year. I really expect TP to make some progress between now and our bowl game, whatever bowl that may be.

I think Troy Smith got into the game at quarterback in 2003 against Northwestern, when Craig Krenzel was injured (a week or two he hurt his shoulder against North Carolina State). Scott McMullen started, and Justin Zwick had some considerable playing time. Troy Smith came in to run some quarterback draws and hand the ball off.
Maybe it's splitting hairs, though, because he was there to run the ball in situations where he wasn't going to lose the game. He didn't get into that situation until the next season (2004).

Thats very interesting that they say that Troy didn't play in the Washington game, because I have that game and I'm pretty sure I saw him return a kick and run the ball as a RB late in the game... But of course, if they were just talking about his playing time as a QB, then I guess they would be correct that he didn't play against Washington since he was a RB/KR then.gracelhink;1344348; said:Your memory is very good!
According to the 2003 tOSU archives, Troy Smith played in 11 of 13 games, all except Washington in week 2 and SDSU in week 3.
Scott McMullen started against Northwestern (he was 16 of 25 for 160 yards and 1 td) Justin Zwick also played in that game at QB, going 3 of 7 for 20 yds. For the 2003 year Zwick played in 4 of 13 games.
Against Northwestern Troy Smith had 2 carries for 12 yards but had no pass attempts for the year.

As far as I am aware, TP stated he was going to concentrate on Football late in the recruiting process.fourteenandoh;1344929; said:what ever came of that? did tress but the kibosh (sp?) on it or did TP decide it would be too much?
jwinslow;1344981; said:Even if he didn't decide to focus on football before enrolling, there would be no choice now. He would be a role player at best, and OSU is one Pryor injury away from disaster, especially if Bauserman chose to move on.
