QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Bull[censored]. If we had beat USC, we'd be number one right now. No matter if we'd beaten Purdue by one. Regardless, we win out and we go to the Rose, at least. No matter if those wins are by one or one hundred. The only reason to win pretty is to appease the pollsters and fans. Tressel need not be worried with either.

I agree that if we win out we go to the Rose Bowl, no argument there. But how you win is still a factor in the polls, at least in the AP, which is 1/3 of the total vote. It operates on a game by game basis. If OSU is undeafeted when Penn State comes to town (assuming PSU is still #3) and we win by 1 point, then a win is a win at that point. But if we played Temple this week and only beat them by 3, with a sloppy offensive showing, and the team who is #12 (one spot behind us) beats their opponent by 35, then I think we move down at least one spot. That sort of thing happens every week.

Unfortunately, we didn't beat USC, in fact, we were clobbered by USC. The pollsters use that and the past 2 NC appearances against OSU every single week. How does USC only fall to #8 or #9 after losing to Oregon State? There is just no logic there.

Just my opinion.

AP is not included in the BCS... coaches, Harris, and the computers.

I think that indirectly it is factored in to the harris poll. The harris poll doesn't come out until later in the year, however, the voters in that poll have seen the AP poll throughout the year. I would guarentee that the harris voters use the AP poll in some form during their decision on who falls where.

TP has more potential than any recruit for any school in the last 5-10 years.

It's incredibly rare to see a Freshman come out and play on the greatest college football stage in the land and play well, not make crucial mistakes and actually be winning games we probably should have lost.

The biggest question is how do we let TP be TP?
To start,we have got to get the line right, get the playbook open, get on the receivers to get more separation and just get these men believing that they are and can be, truly great! With TP at the helm, the next few seasons have crazy potential for us. I'm stoked. Sure it's maddening to see some pretty poor playcalling, but the kid could make instant oatmeal exciting, and once all cylinders are firing,we'll have an offense like no other.

No more so than the Coaches' poll... it certainly isn't 1/3rd of the BCS formula.

I read ya loud and clear. I guess my point is that the goal at this point, is the same as last year after losing to Illinois, the Rose. If that is true, then it doesn't matter if we are number three or forty three. We win out, we go to the Rose Bowl. We beat a good team in the Rose, our final ranking will reflect that.

Well, from what I've read you seem to know alot about this MSU D he'll be facing. I feel he may have another day like he did against Minny, making plays, making decisions. Hopefully the rest of the team makes plays, and good decisions as well.

Terrelle has played pretty damn well since becoming starting QB...Maybe a lot of the naysayers just aren't used to this style of QB.

I don't really get the critisicm....whether on other boards, or the booing in the stands. I was embarrassed sitting on my couch, watching Terrelle look ashamed after the Purdue game. You could tell he felt that he let people down....

Hopefully the coaches introduce him to the concept of north/south. He may get that total by half if he's a fast learner. :wink2:
That's the key, that's why the zone reads and draws looked outstanding earlier. The option works well on really slow teams and when there is some trickery envolved, shotgun speed options with a N/S runner isn't always the best idea.

Hey, this is what I'm loving... Everyone claiming Pryor is over rated, he doesn't have it, he hasn't proved anything... Keep saying all that... Because he will break out, and for whatever that team may be.. It's going to be ugly! I REALLY hope it's Penn State.

who is saying he's overrated? i haven't heard that at all.

Haha, people calling him overrated need to realize that he's a freshman.

That being said, has someone here called him overrated?

i'm with you. i haven't heard that from anyone and i watch every game with a few hundred fans every week here in NYC.

did they really boo him on saturday? my guess is that they were booing the fact that the offense didn't score a TD. that isn't neccessarily aimed only at TP. the whole offense should be pretty pissed off about that performance.

You head over to Scout... and guys are calling for Pryor's head. They want Boeckman back and even a lot of them want Bauserman to start.

It just confuses the hell out of me. Of course he is going to struggle a little bit.... he was playing on a Pennsylvania high school team a year ago. He needs time to grow.

can you copy some of those posts over? i want to know what their beef is.

IMO, he's talented as hell. he waits too long sometimes, but big whoop. he'll learn. he missed a few receivers on saturday, but maybe it was just a bad game. what's important to me is that he is winning. i wonder if its occured to the haters that some people are winners and some aren't. after seeing what he did in wisconsin, TP is obviously a winner and that's what you can't teach. he's only going to get better.

Honestly he's been compared so much to this guy, but I think if you want to know how to use Pryor you go watch what Texas did with Vince Young. Imagine that offense from 05' of Texas' with a better passing VY. Because, next year he will already be as good of a passer that VY ever was. I don't think Pryor is as good running though. I thought VY was much more Physical of a runner. For sure VY also had a redshirt year to just learn/get bigger so we'll see.

You can't assume that as far as Pryor's passing getting better. It doesn't always work that way.

The boos were more directed at the inefficiency of the offense than TP. So the boos were directed at everyone who had anything to do with the offense. The complaints I was hearing in the stands were "Our offense is awful." Definitely not "Our QB is awful, let's get someone else in there."

I don't think I heard anything about TP, aside from when he missed a wide open Hartline. But they forget about that because shit happens.

I haven't heard the boos toward Pryor.. he's still the big man on campus. Not a day has gone by that I haven't heard multiple (good/optimistic) conversations about him.
