Becoming quite the "circus".

I suggest everyone not get too invested in this situation.

The lack of attention our staff is showing to any other QB, especially Gabbert, is surprising...

My guess is that we are trying to get Pryor as a QB first and if we get him, we can figure out where he goes later. I don't think we are too bent on a pure QB again because we already have 3 and I think they must be counting on Bauserman as well.

Pryor has said that he want's a school that can compete in both sports, and I'm pretty sure that we fit that bill fairly well, plus everyone knows that uf's basketball program is all downhill from here, meanwhile things are looking just peachy for the basketball bucks, and our football team is a perennial powerhouse, we're relatively close to his home, and we've shown that we know how to run an offense for a scrambling qb....come on Pryor just do the logical thing here!

I don't believe this is true. Troy Smith has very good skills as a scrambler, but the offense wasn't designed around it as Texas's was for Vince Young or PSU's was for Michael Robinson. For example, the play last fall in the PSU game last year when Smith was scrambling and hit Robiskie for a TD would not have happened in the '05 Texas or PSU offense because VY and MRob would have been running downfield and the receivers would have started blocking after 5 seconds instead of running around trying to get open.

The proof is in rushing stats -- ignoring lost yardage due to sacks, Troy Smith rushed for 332 yds in '06; in '05 MRob rushed for 932 yds and VY rushed for 1186. So you are confusing Troy Smith's scrambling skill as meaning the offense was designed around it; that wasn't the case at all. That is no different than how PSU's receivers are now coached to keep running around trying to get open if the ball isn't released on time, and Morelli ain't no scrambler.

What about Troy's 2005 rushing stats?

Just because he stayed in the pocket more, that doesn't mean the offense changed at all. Ohio State has proven they can utilize a running quarterback and develop his passing(something PSU can't say because Robinson left as a mediocre passer at best).

2005 Troy 4.5 ypc, 11 tds
2005 MRob 4.9 ypc, 11 tds

PSU had a two headed running game (TH 14, MR 13.6 carries per game)
OSU had a running back, plus a QB that could run (AP 20, TS 11.3 " " ")

Exactly. Which one sounds like a better fit for a dynamic athlete that is still raw?

"Come to PSU, where you'll be a journeyman for 4 years before emerging as a good athlete taking snaps"

vs

"Come to OSU, where you can be the next Troy Smith (3 year starter), a raw athlete that developed into a great passer, the b10's first heisman QB"

With our mass exodus of basketball talent, maybe Thad will become a little more interested? I realize the exodus was expected and planned for, but some (Conley) were thought to be at least 2 year guys...
