The '08 basketball class was built in expectation of 2 early departures (ie Oden, Cook). Conley leaving early could translate to an '07 guard, but long term Crater is his replacement. OSU has plenty of depth at wing (Lighty, Wallace, Turner, Buford). If any one is added in the next two years, it should be a guard, imo.

OSU is very interested in Pryor playing both sports... but he would not require a basketball schollie to do that.

USC, Clemson In Mix With Top Quarterback

 QB Terrelle Pryor (6-6 218) of Jeannette, PA, about thirty miles from Pittsburgh, is regarded by many scouts as one of the nation's top quarterback prospect. Last season he rushed for 1676 yards and 29 touchdowns and passed for 1732 yards and 15 touchdowns. He averaged nearly nine yards per carry and completed over 56% of his passes. "He may be the best athlete I've ever seen," said Jeannette coach Ray Reits. "It's the combination of size and speed. He's pretty quick. He's very fluid. He has a tremendous arm, a very powerful arm. He's only played quarterback two years. To be honest with you, I just call him a freak. He has a desire to get better, that's the scary part. He's a Vince Young clone." Pryor also is a standout basketball player who plays point guard. According to Reitz, Pryor has more than 50 offers. He knows USCarolina and Clemson have communicated with Pryor, but he's not sure if they've offered officially. Texas was at his school yesterday. Ohio State, NC State, Michigan and Virginia also have been in, and Southern Cal and Notre Dame are coming by. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel has been in and that impressed Pryor, though his coach said he remains open. "If the right school gets this kid, he's a program changer," Reitz said. "You get a kid like him and he puts you into the national spotlight."

I dunno... As far as biggest, Clarett & Chris Wells were both #1 overall high school recruits under Tressel as well. Most acclaimed though, I could see. He's gotten a LOT of press thus far and didn't commit early like MoC & Beanie.

Both were from Ohio.

Pryor was also a 5-star bball recruit until recently. Add in that he's OOS, and I think he'd be Tressel's "biggest" recruit. He likely has the highest ceiling, but not as high of a floor as Clarett/Wells in terms of talent.

OR, if the right kind of kid chooses THE right Program :osu: then we can help put him into a historical spotlight. :wink2:

Schlichter and Joe Pickens were probably the most hyped, with Zwick just behind. I wonder when Pryor will decide? Most top QBs seem to decide before the beginning of their seasons, for whatever reason. Of course, most top QBs are not top basketball players who have AAU games and basketball camps to attend for much of the summer.
