I bet you are thinking of the one against Illinois - maybe one or two plays before Philly's catch & run TD. It was nasty.

You have to be way more specific. Braxton's peripheral vision is phenomenal.

The best thing that could be said about Braxton Miller?s performance in Ohio State?s second overtime game of the year is that he survived it without a trip to the hospital.

That?s where Miller was when backup Kenny Guiton led Ohio State to a stunning win over Purdue. Miller wasn?t injured against Wisconsin, but he was mostly ineffective. He gained only 48 yards on 23 carries and his longest run was for 10 yards.

?I couldn?t get to the edge,? Miller said. ?Every time I tried to cut back, there was somebody shooting the gaps. They had a good game plan. It was frustrating.?

Miller had success early with the short passing game, but that, too, fizzled as the game progressed. The Buckeyes only threw deep once, and that pass was delivered late and sailed out of the end zone.

?Their focus was on Braxton Miller, and rightfully so,? coach Urban Meyer said. ?As we grow as a team, we have to be able to stretch them. We just don?t have the vertical threat.?

They're both party right. Miller should be in the heisman talks but he's at the far end of the spectrum, right on the cusp of going to NYC. His numbers really aren't that good for a qb, but he's made a number of highlight reel plays to keep us in games and to win games for us. But he's not even close to winning it this year. His numbers don't look like that of a seasoned qb, which he isn't yet. Manziels numbers dwarf everyone's and he's a better passer than those give him credit for. Now mark may is dead wrong when he says Braxton isn't even a top 15 players, that's just asinine! He's top 5-7 in the nation easily. As far as all around players I'd probably only put manziel, Klein, barner and marquise lee ahead of him. Next year should really be the year that Braxton puts it all together. Right now he still just looks like an athlete playing qb instead of an athletic qb.

Yeah, he's certainly a top 5-10 player nationally, he just isn't doing the little things very well as a passer, or I guess I should say he does them inconsistently. This is to be expected, but I was hoping he would've started to improve on a few issues in these last 2 games.

The main problem I see right now is Miller's pocket presence and his indecisiveness. He is so focused on trying to throw down-field for a big play that he can't/won't scramble (even though he could gash teams doing that) and when he feels the pass rush, he starts to run around in circles in the pocket and more often than not runs right into a blitz. In this case his elusiveness is almost an enemy because he eludes one guy, runs backward, and takes an even bigger loss.

That's the biggest thing that needs to be worked on in the offseason. It sucks that OSU won't have bowl practices to work on things like this because I think it could make a huge difference, but there's not much you can do about that.

Agreed!
And that was both the big issue with both TP and troy early on in their careers. But Braxton is even more athletic than the both of them. And he also needs to work more with his wrs in the off-season on slants and more routes than the deep ball. That's what made troy so dangerous his senior year, hitting wrs on slants and out patterns consistently and then going deep when the d got comfortable. That takes timing to hit wrs in stride and more work will need to be done in the off-season. I drool at being able to see Philly brown, or in the near future , jalin Marshall and taivon Jacobs be able to get decent yac on short plays. And then be able to use smith and spencer on deep routes and in space. He'll still finish with a mike vickesque 2000 yds passing and 1000yds rushing. But he needs to be more complete as a qb. He should be able to put in some me work against scUM this year off his athleticism but next year he should be able to win with his arm as much as his legs

I'm not sure how much of that award is due to online fan voting, but if it's a majority of the decision you can give it to Manziel right now. aTm is the only program in the country that makes Nebraska's online poll participation look reserved... they are a bunch of ballot stuffing fools in College Station.
