QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Braxton didn't play remarkably well in either of the last two games this year but was able to lead his team to a W. hopefully they'll find a way to open up more playmakers on offense and limit the punishment he takes; it certainly seems over the last two weeks that it caught up with him. He seems like the type of guy who's always hungry to get better. No doubt this will be an important off season for him and having 12 games in this system to watch on flim, he'll get better.

I'm pretty happy with the way Miller threw the ball today. He may not have had a great day, but he was accurate and for the most part made good decisions. There were still points in the game where he was indecisive, but they were less and less as it went on.

Being more decisive is going to be one of the biggest things he will have to improve upon in the offseason and he should be able to improve that through film study and more practice.

Pocket presence will improve if he can do that, as well as option reads and that means that we see a much better player next year. If Miler can ever have the scrambling abilities of Troy Smith, it'll all be over. He will be nearly impossible to contain. Now obviously some of that is just natural sense and ability he may not have, but he could still improve a lot.

Also, he'll be able to limit his carries and be more efficient in games. He can rush for 100 yards still, but on 12 carries instead of 20. I really think that next year he'll have close to the same amount of rushing yards as this year, but with a 7ish ypc average.

Anyone know if Brax is dinged up? He hasn't looked nearly as explosive in the last few weeks. I understand that the last two defenses have been planning around him but he just doesn't seem to be as reckless and explosive as he was earlier in the season.

At one point early on in the Wisconsin game, I noticed he had a grimace and a very slight limp. He really stopped being able to run after that point consistently, so he very well may be.

Teams literally begged us to make someone other than Braxton Miller's legs step up and beat us. We're going to see that next year too. The improvement we'll see with an entire offseason under this coaching staff should be huge. I think it's important to know that his receivers are developing too. Pryor had the luxury of NFL talented receivers already in the fold. We've pretty much started from scratch with our WR's and only Philly Brown has stepped up and developed like I thought he would. I don't think Devin Smith is very far off though.

I only post the youtube link for reference, but just after the 8:00 mark is his deep pass to Devin Smith. I REALLY don't want to sound racist, and mean this entirely as a compliment, but he looks so much like Troy Smith on this throw. (I'm sure it's not the only time he looks like Troy Smith, but I think it's a really good example.)
He's getting there... should be scary good this time next year.
