If you're going to create a rule for the way Braxton was tackled today then you're going to have to outlaw any tackle where the ballcarrier is taken to the ground that causes him to hit his head on the ground.

Simple fix really.

If you can call unsportsmanlike conduct on a hard hit there is no reason you can't call it on a tackle that has the same effects as a horse collar tackle.

So now we're going to call a penalty based on whether or not the player happens to get hurt? I'm sure it happens, as in officials get influenced by it, but I don't think it's a good idea to actually put it in the rulebook.

I'm sorry Brax got hurt as much as anyone but it's football. It happens. If we change rules every time someone gets injured we'll be playing flag football soon.

Great news. As much as I want to see him back on the field, honestly I would probably sit him out against Penn State just to error on the side of caution. That looked worse than a "normal" concussion.

How about we rely on the concussion testing protocols all teams use these days and go where they take us? They'll test him as the week goes on. If he passes, there's no logical reason to sit him.

The initial injury is very scary but the possibilities for re-injury or something way worse has now just increased 10 fold. I'm pretty sure that since the rash of concussions in all levels of football have increased, and the way they are looking at long term effects, that the tests will be continuous for the next week. Sometimes they feel fine and then later on, blurred vision, headaches, nausea and losing time can happen. They'll have to keep an eye on him for sure. He can't try and play the tough guy "walk it off", he has to communicate honestly or he could ruin his career and health down the road.

Thank God he is going to be ok. For my peace of mind though, I'd rather he be listed as the #2 QB on the roster going into this week just in case.

Great news that he didn't have any serious injury, although it is a bit hard to believe. I was almost sure as the day went on that they'd announce that he had a serious concussion, but that's not the case.

Also, this incident is part of the reason I haven't been as upset when he's run 18-20+ times in a game. Against Purdue he didn't have many designed rushes, but still got hit a lot and was knocked out of the game on one of the times he kept a read play. Overall in 2.5ish (can't remember exactly when he went out) quarters of play, he still had 12 carries and honestly, if he's going to get those carries getting hit in the backfield or scrambling for 2 yards with guys gang tackling him, I'd rather just have designed rushes and have the coaches get in his ear about getting OOB after he's picked up a first down. Now he still did have a decent amount of option plays in which he could try to keep the ball, and teams are going to key on him more, but if there is a way to sneak in a few lead plays that they ran against MSU and NEB, I think it would help more.

Now that he's been hurt though, I'm not sure how they'll handle the offense. He has no lasting injuries, but I think it's going to be in the coaches minds even more to try and limit his carries. Might even sit him against PSU. I'm interested to hear what Urban says during the week.

If he's cleared he has to play. We are going into a Night Game at State Colege. Maybe if we were playing Indiana it'd be a different story but this game is not going to be easy. Again that's if he's medically cleared.

I disagree. Cheap shots on him alone should keep him out as long as possible. I expect PSU to be a worse offender than MSU was.
