QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Watched the Indiana game in the sports book at Caesar's in Vegas and Braxton made a few jaws drop. Loved it.

Just glad I didn't bet on the Bucks to cover the spread. Never bet real money when we're the favorite. I don't want losing a cover bet to detract from enjoying a win. :)

Strength in the pocket and pocket presence. It was like TP had a backup camera in his helmet. He knew (I have no idea how) exactly when the blind side rush was there and when to take off. If Braxton develops this, Holy Schnikies!

I also feel Pryor walked in to a much more experienced/mature team. This team is young and the wide receivers are all freshmen or very little game experience. I actually think they are a large part of why our passing game is almost non existant. Miller has no open receivers and he is a pup himself. They should all gain valuable experience together this year and be much more productive passing next year....that's my story and I am sticking with it:tongue2:

Also, having receivers at different levels will help the passing "attack" as well. I was at the game Saturday and upset to still see receivers mainly doing deep vertical routes. Gotta have receivers on different levels is a fairly basic premise in the passing game.

Eh, his first year he wasn't even leaving the pocket consistently... he was sitting back there many times for 3+ seconds trying to make the huge throw rather than take the 8-10 yds in front of him. The greatest dual threat recruit of our lifetime had to be coached to scramble.

I'm with others. There wasn't a tackler or body mass in america that was too talented or large to shrug off like a kicker trying to tackle Bo Jackson in techmo bowl.

I thought he had better poise in the pocket in his first year, I'm just speaking about the internal clock specifically.

It was more of an overall memory of his pocket awareness. Probably don't disagree about his first year.

This brings up a question I had, which is how well is Miller getting through his reads? Miller doesn't seem to find an open receiver on a large percentage of the passing plays. This could be due to a) Miller being slow with his progressions, b) the receivers not running good routes, c) the routes being all deep verticals, or d) some combination of the above. It is hard to figure out which of these factors is limiting from watching the game on TV. Could someone whose been to some games and has had a better vantage point comment on this?

How about e) sophomoric offensive scheming that requires each receiver to get separation without the benefit of misdirection or surprise.

But then well have this same conversation but comparing the next QB to Miller.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I suspect that being compared to Brax won't be a burden to his successors. Providing he develops as it seems he is currently, he'll certainly be on a few watch lists and it'd be a shocker if he isn't mentioned for the HT in the next couple of years. Dare I say it, the next 2 timer? Potentially at least.

As much as I am rooting against Miller, I would just like to say that he is a breath of fresh air in today's game. I've watched him a lot in the last few weeks, and really just goes about his business. He doesn't hot dog it out there. He's not over the top with his celebrations. He shows little emotion, which in the heat of battle probably calms a lot of his teammates down. Doesn't draw attention to himself.........Just seems like a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. Congrats to him on his early success.

Thanks for the good words there Mike. The future does indeed look bright.

Best of luck to you folks and congrats on getting back on track up there. Looking forward to a great renewal of The Game.
