QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Today, Troy is a marginal 2nd round pick. I think in January and February, once all the NFL scouts have a chance to break down his film and see him throw at pro day workouts, combines and senior bowls, he moves up to being a late 1st round pick.

Most of the information floating around about Troy is old news. He's black, therefore he must be a running QB. :roll1:

Troy's going to shatter perceptions like Warren Moon did. When the scouts finally see his arm up close, they'll change their tune and Troy's stock will rocket like Jay Cutler's did last year.

Height is the only thing keeping Troy from a Top-15 pick.

I'll guess Tampa Bay in the 1st.
Nah, they offered a contract to Chrissy recently, iirc. Gradkowski has decent upside, and I believe they like their other backup (who was hurt).

after pro-day i think he goes early.. heres my ideal draft: browns get ap in the first & troy in the second.
That would be a terrible draft, imo. Joe Thomas should be the Browns first selection. The blocking up front is atrocious...

I really think Droughns would be productive enough if someone opened holes for him.

Staying in Ohio would be great but that ownership of that franchise is horrible :( I am afraid they would pretty much ruin Troys carreer.

Yea, I'm not not even sure they would look at him. It seems they have an obsession for southern kids.
It could be a great thing and he could bring back the Browns of old -- or it could end up a disaster.

there is 100% no way Troy makes it out of the first.....i'd love to see him there in the 2nd round for the browns but it'll never happen....he's definately going to impress during interviews, and there will certainly be a gm/team in the late first who'll take Troy in hopes he's their future QB

Likely places for Troy to end up in my opinion

Philly...Donovan is banged up and getting old
TB....Chris' future is still uncertain and Gradkowski isn't the long term answer
Baltimore...McNair isn't getting any younger
Detroit...Kitna even being a starting QB in the NFL is laughable
Cleveland....needs to either sign a free agent or develop a legit QB for the future
Chicago...Rex aint gettin it done
Minnesota...Brad Johnson is closing in on 40
GB....Favre's career is closing down

I wouldn't be surprised to see a team with an early pick, slide down in the draft where they can pick up some extra picks and take Troy in a slot closer to his projection rather than reaching in the top 10

I'd love to see Cleveland slide down to 20-25, get some extra picks to re-load on talent and take Troy

Cleveland needs some leadership on offense and a QB who can make quick decesions...plus with all the suite owners and ticket sales declining Troy would definately boost the morale of the city and give fans something to look forward too.......or we could just draft a Michigan player or some selfish jerk and force Cleveland fans to root for people they don't like

I think the first time I heard "Troy Smith complete to Braylon Edwards" I would die a little on the inside :)

How about "And Braylon Edwards drops another pass from Troy Smith in the endzone" ??
The leadership of the Browns has always struck me as clueless. It's almost like they're trying to compete with Ohio State by not drafting them.

When the heck are the Browns ever going to wake up and address their
o-line needs in the draft ? See how Droughns and fry play behind a decent
o-line.

If Troy was 6'3", he'd be picked in the top 5. He's not, so someone else, lower down the board, is in for a very nice pick.

I'd love to see the Raiders trade down, get an extra first, and pick Smith with their second first rounder. They won't because Al Davis is a stuntoof.
