QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Come on Browns, what do you have to lose? Guy still has it might as well give him one more shot.

Troy could take snaps at Halfback, it wouldn't matter. People would be in seats just because he's on roster. He's a son of Ohio, one of the greatest in tOSU history, and a great person.

I'll never forget my friends and myself screaming "Troy!!" giving the O-H as the Ravens we're leaving the tunnel and then him giving the I-O in return.

What is Russell Wilson doing that Troy Smith wasn't capable of when he came in the league. If he was afforded a chance after his illness, I think he'd have been every bit as good, if not better. Man, could Troy really spin it or what?

Wilson has another gear with his legs that Troy didn't have. Russell also throws an amazing ball both from the pocket and on the run. Troy had a rocket, but I don't think his motion was as compact, and he certainly wasn't as accurate as Wilson was last year.

But like everything, it can be about right place/right time. The Ravens were an awful fit for Troy entering the league. Had Troy entered the league at the same time Wilson did, with offenses built to take advantage of mobile QB's, maybe things would have been better for Troy. Troy entered the league at a time where offenses would try "spread" principles for a series or two but it was a fad, not something you'd install as an every down offense.

As Troy Smith met with the media on his first day with his new team, the first words out of his mouth may have sounded foreign to his fans back in the United States.

Smith during his Heisman-winning season with the Buckeyes.
Perhaps because they were.

"Bonjour," the former Ohio State quarterback said with a smile as he opened up his introductory press conference with the Montreal Alouettes.

After a four-year career in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, and a one-season stint with the United Football League's Omaha Nighthawks, Smith is taking his professional playing days up north to the Canadian Football League. It is there that the Cleveland, Ohio native is hoping to showcase the talent that made him the 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, although Smith said that he doesn't necessarily view his new team as a stepping stone to get back into the NFL.

"I haven't thought about that in a while," Smith said of the NFL. "The CFL is the most important thing to me."

It's Thanksgiving day in Canada and that means football. Frustrated by turnovers Montreal inserted back up QB Troy Smith into the line up, and he promptly leads them to a TD - his first CFL TD toss went to SJ Green.

This game is in progress if you have espn3. Ugh...he just threw his first pick, getting hit on the release. I hope they don't pull him.
