I don't know if the San Francisco 49ers can run the table to snatch the NFC West crown, but the insertion of Troy Smith as the starting quarterback makes them the most dangerous team in the division.
While the thought of a 3-6 team emerging as a powerhouse is laughable on the surface, a close examination of the film reveals an offense capable of terrorizing opponents behind an old-school formula with Smith as a centerpiece.
...
Smith might not be the 49ers' long-term answer at quarterback, but his versatility has given the team a quick fix that has added an explosive element to their offense. With defenses now forced to deal with a balanced attack, the 49ers have a chance to live up to their lofty preseason expectations.

It is kind of hard for a Buckeye homer like myself to honestly assess Troy's play and in turn his potential as a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL.
What do you think Troy needs to do to convince folks outside of the Buckeye circle that he is a legit NFL QB? Does he need to lead the 49ers to the playoffs? What kind of stats does he need to put up?
