QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I don't care for Flacco. Not one bit. And [censored] the Ravens. I get why they let Flacco have the job - he started hot and was paid the big bucks. But [censored] them for not playing Troy in garbage time during the season.

The only Bengals game I was in Ohio to see on television was Bengals-Ravens. Ravens had the game won with plenty of time left to give Troy a few drives but kept Flacco in. You can say they left Flacco in to get him experience, but that's BS. They already had a QB controversy earlier in the season regarding Troy and didn't want him to have the chance to have a few badass drives to stir it up again. What extra experience was Flacco going to get off the Bengals secondary in a done deal? Troy gets only a couple pass attempts all season? [censored] that.

I was pulling for the Ravens to win b/c I hate Pittsburgh and I had slim hopes that Troy could make into a game. But for the Ravens to lose on Flacco's rookie mistake INT was as good as it could get if Pitt had to win.

Don't forget Holmes' TD... that was a nice way for pitt to win if they had too as well.
I'll never forgive that dumbass Savage for all his stupid draft picks and giving up so much for a Pretty Boy when Troy was available late in the draft. What a complete cock up.

They got to the conference championship with Flacco.. I don't understand the hate for the guy.

I don't give a fuck about the Ravens. Troy was probably the best QB to ever play at tOSU...and you can't figure out why some of us hate the fuck stick starting ahead of him...and quite possibly only because Troy came down with a freak virus during the competition for the starting job?

C'mon Numbers, you're smarter than that.

It's a giant buckeye conspiracy, that's just it. The coaches at Baltimore would rather not play a buckeye, then have the best quarterback for their team in the game. Their jobs mean nothing to them. Surely, someone who has watched a few ravens games on tv would have a more in depth analysis, then the coaching staff.

It's amazing that there is even a discussion about this. If Troy Smith was the starter with identical stats to flacco,i'm sure there would be high praise for him here, and not "well i'm just not convinced with Troy. He only lead them to the playoffs, but I believe Flacco with basically no experience all year should have the job" Troy was a great qb,and needs to get out of baltimore to play. It's not Flacco's fault he's good, and kept Troy from getting playing time.

Congratulations!! You've discovered our secret... we all like Ohio State.
Now that the bug is out, I'm going to take off before NDC or Methomps gets wind of this development.

He didn't even say Troy should be starting. He said they could've played Troy in garbage time, and he's right. I also think he's right as to the reason they didn't play him. You had leaders on both sides of the ball (Mason and Lewis) who both stated they thought Troy should be the starter (before Troy got sick), and playing Troy could've led to a controversey. The GM would have reason to not want to see Troy start a controversey also, as he was the one who drafted Joe in the first round.

I like Ohio State too, but Flacco was the QB and they got to the conference championship.

Hard to argue with the decision to keep Flacco in. I know he had a bad playoff game, but he was doing more than expected up to that point.

With their defense and Flacco's mediocre numbers (no relation), it's not THAT hard to imagine Troy leading them just as far.

In the same regard,it very well might have not lead to a controversy. Anytime a rookie starts there's going to be some type of stir following him around. How could leaders of a team have confidence in a rookie qb they haven't seen play in real time?Is it wrong to get as much experience for a rookie qb as possible? Do you think they are regretting playing him all season now? If you were to ask those same guys what they thought about Flacco right now, what would they say? It's hard to argue with the results.

Troy really hasn't proved anything in the NFL. Call it unfortunate, but it is what it is.What criteria are you judging this on? Is it his time at Ohio State? There isn't really much more other then that to go by.
