QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

The BCS game was the turning point, but as much as I love Troy, it was Troy that showed up overweight and out of shape for the BCS title game and the combine...not the media. What pisses me off the most about Troy is that he worked his balls off to get and keep the starting job and to earn the Heisman, but was undone by the banquet circuit. Hopefully he wins the starting job with the Ravens and is able to better handle the success wrought by his hard work this time around.

Everyone seemed pretty high on him after the UM game. The height thing was his only drawback. I don't see why NFL GMs make such a huge deal out of height for QBs. Granted, NFL players are taller on average, but I would think they would realize that skill and intangibles than a couple of inches. Take Doug Flutie, he was 5'9" and was 35 years old before he saw significant time in the NFL. He still managed to outperform the taller QBs that he replaced and that replaced him. The guy was just a great competitor and athlete. Hopefully, Troy can prove that everyone that passed on him made a huge mistake.
I also always point out that while QB'ing at OSU, it's not like Troy was playing behind a line made up of 6'1 linemen. His line was always close to NFL size. Never bothered him.

6 games into the season, his biggest fans will be his receivers. Bet on it.

I rarely post, but saying that we were outmatched at the end of that post pissed me off. Okay, I'm done.

Well, what do you want him to say? We weren't outmatched and just didwn't show up to the game? Come on, let's face a little reality here, the ONLY excuse we have is Teddy getting hurt, but do you really think that would have made a difference? Face it, we were beat in every position. Face it, we underestimated Florida, they were better than us, and we lost.

A Florida fan is saying Troy is great, say thanks.

let em talk smack they didn't make it back last year and BTW where is Chris Leak now?????:wink2:

Yeah, this makes it feel so much better, great Chris Leak isn't doing a whole lot, now I feel like 2006 didn't end on a bad note. Here, let me give you a little hint, don't make posts like this, all it does is say "we're sore losers."

We lost that championship, Troy won a heisman, Troy is a great player and we love him, but none of what people post are going to make that game against Florida any different. Do you really look back and go "well Chris Leak sucked@!" and feel better? I sure as hell don't, I look back and Troy's career, when people were saying this guy is a "Transfer waiting to happen" and then when he got into trouble and people were saying "this guy is going to destroy the program" and him sticking it out, then watching him come in and destroy scUM, then beat N_tre _ame and people saying "this is the team to watch out for" and then in 2006 watching him show the heart he had.

You guys need to look at his career of what he did, not make excuses for what he didn't do.

OSU was greatly outmatched that night. Small minded folk draw wide sweeping conclusions based on a remarkably small sample size which isn't really part of the same season.

Tom Brady's OL is one of the best around, yet look how dreadful they were in the Super Bowl (or overmatched, if you will). Fortunately, they play more games and we saw the exact same teams play out in a completely different game.

One would think such would teach an obvious lesson, but hatred and laziness usually beats out logical analysis these days.

for what it's worth I wasn't making excuses for what he didn't do. Maybe you're taking what I posted out of context. Troy is my favorite player all time and when some dbag comes on here and talks smack and that florida game is all you're gonna judge him by I'm gonna take a shot at their guy.

Like it or not I don't care. I don't look back at that game and think we were simply outplayed. It wasn'tmeant to be and when TGjr went down it was the beginning of the end. No it's not sour grapes, it's just how I feel.

When Teddy went down it changed the entire gameplan for the bucks and I truly believe things might have been different atleast a little closer had it not happened.

Here is what I believe. Troy Smith will end his pro career as a highly respected NFL quarterback. He will very much achieve his dream to be a person of influence who can help inner city kids in Cleveland and other places to set high goals and accomplish them.

Put this one in the vault for ten years from now. This guy has a destiny and it is going to really be something.

Now that...I agree with! I think if you've watched Troy "grow up" over the years, you can't help but feel this way.

Ok, come on, the guy wasn't talking smack at all, you were taking something meant as a compliment the wrong way. Ever had someone say your girlfriend was really pretty? Back of your head voice got jealous? Think about that. Here's what the guy said:

Troy was a GREAT player. I really did kinda feel bad for him when we beat them. He had such a bad game. I thought it was really classy of him to give credit to our team, and to take the blame fo the loss. It wasn't his fault though. You guys were just out matched. I hope he succeeds it whatever he does. Seems like a great guy.

1) He Says Troy is a great player.
2) Says he felt bad for him.
3) Troy took 100% of the blame for that loss like a great leader, but we all know that game was lost on the offensive line.
4) Take off your blinders, their line dominated ours, Teddy may have made the game closer, but they pushed our O-line around.

I love Troy, he's a great story and I am proud he was a Buckeye, but you are lashing out at someone who doesn't deserve it. This was a compliment, not a "dbag talking smack."

Obviously, TS10 does not know what smack is.

Trust me, I know what it is....and I have to imagine the gator fan does too.

But nobody here has seen it from me (I can't imagine you ever will), and nothing about what he said should be seen as a slam. For us, Phoenix was a near perfect game that we would be hard pressed to repeat. But we dominated on the d -line that night, sacking and harassing Troy into ineffectiveness.

I think Troy is great, I felt bad for him (later - not that night, but when I heard the idiots talk about the $$ he lost and how he slipped in draft rank), and Troy took the blame in the post game conference like a true leader, instead of blaming the matadors on his o-line that night. I know that at halftime you could have stuck a fork in it. That is sorta dominated. Like Woody said, it was one of those soul cleansing experiences.

Nothing about his or my thinking that makes us a douche bag. (I'm, a douching for different reasons:tongue2:)

Common TS, lighten up. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. It'll just make the next one more interesting when we do meet again.
