The Texans would be a nightmare. Everyone would be comparing him to e VY, the player they missed out on this year. Not that he can't handle himself against VY, but really they are different types of QB's and there would be unrealistic expectations. For sure, a middle round team is better for him, but I'd like to see him lead the rise of a shitty team ala Carson Palmer or Vince Young.

That's exactly why I'd love to see him go in the early 2nd to the Browns. If Troy turns out to be as good as I think he can be, we'll be kicking ourselves for years for not getting him.
Before the Oline specters come back -- I know the Browns need Oline help. BADLY. But they also need a "winning spirit". I remember watching a local tv show on the Broncos about a month ago (before they lost to SD and KC) and they had the Browns D-line defectors on. Asked why they basically sucked in Cleveland, they basically said it was the attitude at the club.
Nobody in Cleveland really wanted to win, and they didn't. Troy has the kind of personality that turn that around.
So if he has to go to a junk team, I really hope it is the Browns.

On the Broncos / Browns DL thing... a little old, but basically says the same things they said on the tv talk show.

"It was a different focus," Warren said. "It was a different mind frame when I got out here to Denver. The expectations are different than they were in Cleveland."

Don't believe it.

Can't imagine them passing on a guy like Thomas from Wisconsin even though they have been burned on a OL before ie: Gallery.

But they had a QB they still liked when they drafted Gallery. Let's face it, that team needs a lot of help on the O side of the ball. The D is passable so expect a lot of FA and draft to concentrate on the O. If they want a QB they can insert into the starting lineup sometime next season, they'll have to get on in the first round. If they want a project and are willing to stick it out with Brooks for a season or 2, it will likely come 2nd or later.

Troy Smith Named AP Player of the Year

By RALPH D. RUSSO
AP Sports Writer

NEW YORK ? The old Troy Smith was at his best on the run. The new and improved version can sit in the pocket all day and pick apart defenses with his arm. Smith's evolution from running quarterback to precise passer made No. 1 Ohio State all but unstoppable this season ? and helped him win The Associated Press Player of the Year honor announced Tuesday.
"I am a quarterback," Smith said, "through and through."

I normally despise Jim Rome and anything that comes out of his mouth, but had to like what he said about TS today. He ended the show talking about the NFL draft and picking QB's is normally a "crap shoot". But, he said, TS is the real deal, a 100% absolute winner beating Michigan, etc, etc.

Of course, he went on to talk about his "stripper cred" like he was funny or unique or whatever because a NY stripper said he'd be a good NFL player. Then wasted most of what could have been a great closer on "stripper cred" and useless things like using all the lame stripper names he could come up with.

The Raiders should just use their entire draft on o-linemen because they don't even have one right now.

This could also apply for the Browns, I probably would not even be upset if they just drafted all offensive and defensive lineman. They have no depth and are not any good. Everyone knows with a line on either side of the ball you ain't gonna do a damn thing.

A healthy LeCharles Bentley should help significantly next year assuming his rehab starts going a little better.

If I could, I would refer you back to my post, and the article I threw in at the end. It's just a little farther up on this page. (#188 to be precise)
Cleveland apparantly had a couple of good D-Linemen (and even a good positions coach), as they're all doing pretty good for the Broncos now. Yet they sucked for the Browns. When asked why they don't suck anymore, they basically responded that it's a small matter of a winning attitude, expectations, etc. The article clearly suggests this, but it's been a long-time favorite on Broncos talk shows and the answer hasn't changed yet.

The Browns definitely need help on their lines. Bentley's recovery could be a big step in that direction, but I don't think simply drafting a lot of OL and DL talent is going to change anything. If they were to draft OL in the 1st and get Troy in the 2nd, I think he could change the attitude in Cleveland. Just a thought.
