There's an exception to every rule. And usually, there's more than just one.

As Johnny Manziel, Russell Wilson, and several others have shown, you don't have to be 6'5 250 to succeed at the college level - even against elite programs like Alabama.

Clearly, if Urban offered Martell a scholarship, he thinks Tate has a decent chance to lie in the exception category. And given both Urban and Tate's unprecedented history of success, it would be silly to not even give them that chance.
