That list almost reads like something out of a modern day youth sports awards banguet where everybody gets a trophy. Most improved in particular is a two edged sword as the least polished in the group has the best chance at that one. Still, it made me smile.

But most likely to win an NC was interesting. Didn't USC have a QB at that camp? Aren't they the future of CFB?

Harrison Beck
  • Was pressing early on while showing a tendancy to over throw
  • Improved by weeks end
  • Mechanics are improved when not over throwing
  • Showed good feet and aggressive drops
  • Showed nice presence in and around the pocket
  • Has the type of body that should hold up well in the B12
  • Very coachable
  • Hates losing and shows desire to excel
Jake Christensen
  • Has the tools to become a starter by his Sophomore Year
  • Son of former NFL Quarterback - JC is already ahead of the curve
  • Has natural feel for the game
  • Knows the type of work necessary to be a successful qb
  • Has the physical tools to to move on to the next level
  • Rifle arm, but can also throw the fade and touch passes
  • Quick decision maker
  • Very accurate
Joe Cox
  • Only Mark Sanchez was more impressive during the 5 day camp
  • Won every accuracy contest during the week
  • Better than average arm strength
  • Incredibly smart and a natural born leader
  • Perhaps the most college ready
  • Drew raves from all of the college counselors
  • Every bit as impressive at this camp as former E11 QB Chris Leak
Jonathan Crompton
  • Arguably in top three quarterbacks at the camp
  • Very talented pocket passer
  • Showed a live arm and is very accurate
  • Able to make all the throws
  • Very sharp in the classroom
  • Should compete for early pt due to his football IQ and work habits
Chase Daniel
  • One of the most charismatic players out of all the campers
  • Overcame some early nerves and improved every day
  • May not be great at any one thing, but is good at everything
  • Plays in shot gun offense 100% of the time
  • His drops improved and will continue to improve
  • Showed an ability to make his reads and go through progressions
  • Missouri is a great fit for what CD does well
Jonathan Garner
  • Look better in pads than at a quarterback camp
  • Has very good tools including a strong arm and good mobility
  • Does not really wow you until you see him in a game situation
  • Good football IQ
  • Performed well during read and react drills
  • Struggled with consistency early on, but finished strong
  • Very classy kid, the kind you would want your daughter to date
Arkelon Hall
  • One of the most outgoing in the group
  • There were at least two or three of the other quarterbacks hanging around with him at all times
  • Proclaimed himself the favorite in the EA SPORTS video game challenge
  • He backed up the talk by taking home the title
  • On the field, AH was solid every day
  • Showed improvement after every workout
  • Throws the ball with good timing and throws a very nice deep ball
Kyle Reed
  • Displayed incredible promise for the future
  • Has only played quarterback for two years
  • By the third workout Reed made huge strides and improved more over the week than any other signal caller
  • He’s so athletic that he often times looks like a basketball player in the pocket
  • Grew leaps and bounds from the first day
  • Applied all the teaching he received in the classroom
Ryan Perriloux
  • The best high school arm of any E11 particpant ever
  • Athletic ability is off the charts
  • Very accurate passer
  • Tremendous personality and can be as good as he wants to be
  • No matter the route, still wants to throw every ball 100MPH
  • The one quarterback who looked the most bored in the chalk sessions
  • A big arm could almost be a curse, but if a commitment to learning every aspect of the position, along with becoming a student of the game, he could be the next John Elway... He has that kind of ceiling
Mark Sanchez
  • Simply put, he had one incredible week
  • Unanimous choice by all six college counselors as the MVP
  • Only an injury can prevent Sanchez from becoming a future All-American
  • Other signal callers were almost speechless trying to describe him
  • Has a great arm and off the charts with his accuracy
  • Threw the best touch pass in the group
  • Moves very well in the pocket
  • Great work habits
  • A personality second to none
  • College level ability right now on the chalk board
  • Future is very bright for this young man
Rob Schoenhoft
  • In terms of pure upside, Schoenhoft is up there with just about anyone at the camp
  • Arm strength was second behind only Perriloux
  • Release and timing on his passes is even better
  • Moves well for a big quarterback
  • Made bigger strides in the classroom and with some of his mechanics than any signal caller at the camp
  • Developed a tired arm earlier than just about anyone - Due to not using anything other than his arm to throw
  • Coaches worked on him using his legs and being on balance - His throws improved dramatically
  • Very committed to learning - Became one of the best in the group in the chalk sessions
  • Ohio State should be very excited to see Schoenhoft as he has more talent right now than any other signal caller on the roster
(I'm guessing that last bullet point by the writer was directed at Zwick, Smith, and Boeckman)

That is really positive feedback on RS, I'm becoming more and more excited about him now.

But wow, MS, could have probably come in next year and competed for the job, that is really disappointing we didn't get him, but that was just unlikely I guess.

Not sure what to make of this comment. How do they know how much talent we have right now? Are they trying to compare his talent to when Zwick and Smith went throught the camp three years ago?

after reading that over-veiw, i'm bumming that we didn't get sanchez. he sounds INCREDIBLE!!!!

but i'm more than happy with robby. in 5 years, he may prove to be the best player to come out of that camp. i just hope tressel doesn't boggle down his talent...

Don't get me wrong I'd love to have Sanchez but there's something to be said for peaking too early- MS has been coached by Bob Johnson who runs the Elite 11 camp, so its not surprising that his chalk talk and his mechanics were very good. That said, when RS hits the college scene and receives similar instruction, he may pass MS.

Interesting O-Zone post on Schoenhoft

Not sure if the poster is reliable but it's an interesting read. This part in particular was pretty funny.

Finally, she said that even though Robby has verballed, she knows the recruiting process won't be over truly until signing day in February. One coach sent Robby a note of congratulations but added, "If you decide down the line you might want to throw the ball a little more in college, give us a call."

Sheesh, the kid is almost 6'6" now and is just starting his senior year. If he's "still growing" as his mom says, he could be 6'7" by the time he starts taking snaps for us. No field vision problems there!

Whatever. Rob chose wisely. Which do you think he's rather do - throw 35 screens and 5 yd. curls a game, or throw 20 passes a game - with ten deep balls to guys like Dukes, Lyons, Ginn, and Hartline? Besides - who the hell is going to defend against this guy? With the way JT recruits, any DB worth a damn will be on his own team! Why in the hell would he want to change his mind, and possibly have to face the Glenville - Hamilton All-Stars? That's QB careeer suicide!!!!!

Just watched Rob's video on Insiders. Everything that has been said about "potential" or him being "raw" seems to be true, but you can just see that there is a lot there to work with. Seems like he throws a tight ball. Lot of zip on it, although his accuracy is less than great. Reminds of me of AJ Burnett a bit. Throws the ball real hard, just doesn't always know where it's going. One concern from a mechanics standpoint, and I am hardly an expert although I have played plenty of football in my day, is that it seems like he has a real low release point sometimes. Steps into this throws real well and throws decently on the run. Seems like when he tucks the ball he is looking to delieve the blow, not take it. Seems like he is tough as nails. As usual, the caveat is that this is a highlight tape, so obviously he looks pretty great, although he does look human with some passes sailing on him a bit. Overall, I reiterate how excited I am that he is in the fold.
