There are a few st x. people on this web site and I think if most answered objectively they'd tell you that Robbie's better position in high school was when he played TE as sophomore.
I don't see this as a bad thing. Robbie is a big kid and a fine athlete.
Buckeneye;1026911; said:My biggest question is how early would we be seeing Rob in any package at TE?
Why do I have a feeling this may be a blessing in case we wanted to pull some tricks of our own against Miles?
OmahaBeef;1026914; said:I'll tell you one thing, he definitely wasn't overly impressive as a QB. Like everyone knows, he has a great arm and can throw the ball a mile. His decision making skills were often questionable however. Like others have mentioned though, he's a great athlete and if TE is where he can help the team, so be it.
Honor&Glory;1026920; said:I agree with you about his arm. I was at the x v. st. ed's game at nippert in 2004 and the kid threw a 15 yard out from the far hash and I swear to God it's the only time I have ever heard a football 'whistle' through the air the way a Roger Clemmens 97 mph heater. amazing.
OmahaBeef;1026922; said:No asterisks?
OmahaBeef;1026916; said:haha, I think we've all seen WR passes, but a TE pass? That would be an interesting play to see.
ScarletBlood31;1026960; said:But seriously. Have him come in for a few package plays, make a few blocks, maybe throw a few balls his way, get the defense to focus on Robo, Wells, Hartline, Small......
Then BAM a TE screen turned into Rob throwing a 65 yard bomb down the field to a streaking Ray Small....

What is it going to say about our program that we couldn't turn an Elite 11 QB into even a second-string grade quarterback?
Everyone knew he was going to be a project out of high school, and he had the one thing that you really can't teach - a monster arm. Aren't great developers of talent supposed to teach the rest?
Not bashing anyone, just pointing out an objective viewpoint. Obviously there's more to the story than, "He couldn't be a good quarterback," but this is what it seems like to an outsider.
