QB Matthew Baldwin (transfer to TCU)

I'm not shocked... by the time he starts he would be a junior.

That said what a blow and especially considering how fields runs the ball. One play from having pretty much no one.

Disappointed in this to say the least because Baldwin wasn't playing until his junior year regardless.

If Fields doesn’t perform Day’s seat will get warm sooner rather than later.
Not sure how his seat would get warmer...what should he do, hold Baldwin hostage?

Baldwin's spontaneous announcement to transfer lends me to believe he's not much more mentally tough than is Martell. Unless there's some secret family illness/situation that hasn't been made public yet to cause this transfer, I'm not exactly going to be enthusiastically rooting for him at his next stop.

Man, it's a different game now. You're basically just gonna have a team of mercs in the very near future. Seriously degrades the game, IMO.
Because it’s so fair to have coaches who are mercs... this does nothing to the game, finally the guys that actually decide the game have power. I’m happy for him and every kid who gets on himself. It sucks for our depth but he wasn’t realistically going to start. Let’s not kid ourselves

5 Star Recruit Commits, Enters Transfer Portal

(AP) - 5 star QB prospect Josh Olsen called a press conference today to announce his commitment to the University of Texas and subsequent entrance into the Transfer Portal. Olsen, 18 of Grand Prairie, Texas, is the Longhorns #1 recruit and top ranked QB in the state of Texas. He is also the first player this year to announce his transfer. "I'm very excited to get started, and even more excited to transfer" Olsen said.

Longhorn's head coach Tom Herman could not be reached for comment as he is currently at the house of 2 star QB recruit Bill Crenshaw (Bishop HS, Bishop, Texas) begging him to commit.

Dam*it....in the name of all things holy/Craig Krenzel, this would be devastating. Not only because of depth, but because I think Baldwin is the best pro style QB to come to OSU not named Haskins since....Craig Krenzel. Or before that, okay.

He can say what he wants, but if he feels that Fields has been given an unfair advantage I don't blame the kid. My fandom for this kid is hard. 4 hours long hard.

I just don't understand this move...

He comes in with a busted knee and after the first practices he gets to go through he's done?

What had he done to earn the starting job? You have to earn it and sadly this is what it'll be now.

I think Day will learn from all of this. Him and the staff need to stop talking up and raving about their #3 QB. It gets in a kids head that they are ready to start. Also even if you have a top rated QB coming in as transfer, you need at least put up the impression that you are going to give someone like Tate an equal chance to win the job and start. This isn't the NFL, QB depth is more important and no QB is going to be a long term answer. Players graduate, transfer, and get hurt. There isn't a 10 year vet sitting at home waiting for a call.
