QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

probably more difficult to find out then where he's been living the past decade. Hell, i've been to his house before because I was chef and I worked a private party for his daughters baptism.

There isn't a man alive who actually fears for his family's safety that is going to tweet where he's moving them to.

Herbies a fucking drama queen.

Spielman came out yesterday on national radio and ripped JT and the program a new one, calling for much more severe penalties. Yet, noone is calling him a fake buckeye noe questioning his loyalty to the university. Gee, I wonder what the difference could be?

Move if you feel you need to, but there is no need (other than ego and drama) to go out of your way to toss hand grenades in your wake.

I'm not fucking done! As if Ohio State was not having a bad enough week, this bronzed fucking ken doll needs to come out and throw his bit of gasoline on the fire? You couldn't just leave quietly? Way to show some love for the university. Fuck you herbstreit! Fuck you long and fuck you hard in your mother fucking ass with the jagged end of a broken plunger handle.

Any chance that you are tranferring any of your pent up anger at the tatgate situation at an easy target?

No not at all. Hell, I'll readily admit that a portion of our fanbase is terrible. KH, however, is a [censored]ing drama queen. He's done everything in his power over multiple years to antagonize the fanbase and alienate himself from the program. As someone pointed out, Spielman, Smith, Kellog and Jackson all manage to balance being objective, respected national commentators with living peaceful and happy lives in Columbus.

My anger is not directed at his leaving; it's directed at what I percieve as his kicking the university while it's down on his way out of town. Just pack up and quietly move...would that have been so [censored]ing difficult?

Gator--serious question: from the perspective of an outsider, what do you think of Herbie's statements in post #1385 of this thread, his final AP ballot vs. his previous one as it pertains to OSU (see http://theozone.net/football/2011/herbstreitballot.html), and the general back-and-forth between him and OSU fans?

I'm just curious to hear a non-OSU fan's perspective.

No kidding--talk about the perfect week for Herbie to sidle quietly out of town, but no, this guy starts up a new Twitter account just for the occasion!

Herbstreit is going to realize one day just how much he really needs Ohio State fans and how much his short-sightedness is going to cost him. I'm not arguing that ESPiN is not a great opportunity or that he wont' earn enough to last one of us a lifetime, provided it last long enough.

Problem is that the ESPiN gig is not going to last forever and he has to be wondering if it will last long enough to amass the resources necessary to maintain the lifestyle.

Herbstreit's difficulties are not rooted in the Ohio State fan base. They are rooted in an ego that wants recognition for his accomplishments as an Ohio State quarterback and an "insider" role at the WHAC. Unfortunately, his accomplishments, while appreciated by fans, were rather modest and he queered any chance he might have had at developing a role at WHAC by behaving as he has.

I am one of those silent fans to whom Herbstreit refers. If he lived next door, I wouldn't be saying things to his wife and kids or him. But what he fails to realize is the deep sense of betrayal that I and others feel when we see him or hear his voice, due to his passive and active aggression toward the Ohio State football program.

Five years ago, I looked forward to the insights that Herbstreit shared during football games. Sadly, acting out his ESPiN script, he hasn't really imparted particularly informative insights about football games for some time now. Instead, the opinions and actions, that fail to move him any closer to fans of other teams, further alienate him from Buckeye fans.

And, Herbie, it's not a minority. The Tat Five are not my favorite guys right now, for what they did and the impact on Coach Tressel due to his response. But Pryor and I are now on one side concerning who is and who is not a fake Buckeye fan.

So, one wonders just how long it will be--six months, two years--before WBNS will reconsider his local program. How long before ESPiN moves on to younger, fresher talent? How long before Herbstreit rues the terrible way that he has made a hash of his relationship with Ohio State fans?
