Overall I hope fans ease up on Herbie! He not Cowturd or Desmond or "Bitch [censored]" May or Todd McShay whom I personally for some odd reason want to Bitch Slap.....

Herbie, IMO, used to ascend the people you mention. Now, he's a peer in every sense of the word. For me, to "ease up on Herbie"; then I'm going to have to see some contrition or humility, because up to this point there are far more instances where he has harmed tOSU with his comments than otherwise.

I'm sure "Bitch Tits" Mark May and the other guys that you put Herbie on par with were behaving like this when the Buckeyes were getting it done last night???

Again, I have missed the Pryor/Herbie feud for the most part but it did lead to a classic line from Pryor. "I don't worry about what Kirk Herbstreit says, to tell you the truth. Has he beat Michigan"
Officially Herbie in his one start didn't lose either....13-13 tie but that was some funny stuff from a 19 year old.

I do get what your saying but if most of Buckeye nation is forgiving the 5 players that made the mistake then maybe cut Kirk some slack as well. I dunno...

HB: Just to clarify, I'm just explaining why I have a hard time cutting him slack any more.

To be honest, the KH-TP issue is light compared to the other stuff that he has done over the years.

The Tat-5 publicly asked for forgiveness. When Herbie does the same thing; then I'll give it.

HB, do you have a picture of him doing that at the Sugar Bowl? That was a long time ago and I can't recall him encouraging the team or saying anything positive, before or after the game.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit: Jim Harbaugh to U-M 'wishful thinking'

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit admits now that maybe it's been "wishful thinking" on his part that Jim Harbaugh will return home to coach Michigan.

Even Herbstreit, who has publicly touted Harbaugh, currently the Stanford head coach who is being strongly courted by NFL teams, as a great fit for Michigan, now thinks that marriage might not materialize.

[snip]

"I think Jim Harbaugh is great for college football," Herbstreit said Thursday during an ESPN teleconference. "I think his energy, his passion, his competitive spirit, the same spirit he had as a player, he has a head coach. (But) all these stories and now the Dolphins flying there and potentially offering him to be the highest paid NFL coach, maybe all these things are too much for him to consider going to Michigan.

"I think he fits in perfectly in college. More than competing to win games, he's affecting 18- to 22-year-old young men in a positive way. I think he's a great guy. I think he has an edge to him that's fun and I think it would bring a lot of spirit to the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. So I'm holding out hope that somehow someway he'll want to come back to Ann Arbor, but it does seem like more and more as time passes he'll be headed to the NFL."

Q&A: ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit

Published: January 9, 2011

You always hear that defense wins championships. There?s a good chance no one will be saying that Monday night after the BCS Championship game. Is this the signal of a sea change in college football?

The last few years we?ve seen these offenses with the ability to spread people out and score points during the regular season be a big storyline. I remember Brent (Musburger) and I called the Florida-Oklahoma game on radio ... and if you looked at those two offenses coming into that game, that?s all we heard about. And yet that game, the defenses actually showed up and played very well. So as much as (Auburn and Oregon) have been about offense for the whole year, I wouldn?t be surprised if the two defenses maybe played better than maybe people are anticipating. I think the reason we?re seeing all these offenses carry teams to championship-caliber games is just because of the mixture of the tempo and the spread and the way these teams can score. There?s more emphasis today on speed in offense than there?s ever been before.

Is there any chance you would vote TCU ahead of the loser of the championship game?

Depending on how the game goes, I was left with enough of an impression from Andy Dalton and Gary Patterson and that team ... that I would look at them and even Stanford. With the way Stanford finished the year, I think they deserve some consideration. If it?s a blowout, then there?s no doubt TCU and Stanford would be two teams that you have to consider moving up.

Does the scandal that?s happened in college football this season, especially with the Cam Newton situation, stain the sport?

I wouldn?t necessarily point to just the Cam Newton scenario and say, ?Boy, we?re definitely taking some steps back.? I would look at the entire season. I would look before the season before we ever kicked the ball in the air and what went on at North Carolina and South Carolina and a handful of schools in the SEC. Then it continued on with Cam Newton?s situation. Then even with Ohio State and the five players that they?ve suspended for next year. I know there?s a lot of pressure to win. I know that every fan base and every head coach out there feels the pressure to get to 11 or 12 wins and try to get to a BCS bowl game. But at the same time, I think there?s a way to go about doing that.
