QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

I wouldn?t necessarily point to just the Cam Newton scenario and say, ?Boy, we?re definitely taking some steps back.? I would look at the entire season. I would look before the season before we ever kicked the ball in the air and what went on at North Carolina and South Carolina and a handful of schools in the SEC. Then it continued on with Cam Newton?s situation. Then even with Ohio State and the five players that they?ve suspended for next year. I know there?s a lot of pressure to win. I know that every fan base and every head coach out there feels the pressure to get to 11 or 12 wins and try to get to a BCS bowl game. But at the same time, I think there?s a way to go about doing that.

What competitive advantage did tOSU or Jim Tressel gain over the competition (in relation to "tat-gate") to get to the Sugar Bowl?

Just more Herbie talking out of his ass and taking another jab at tOSU and trying to lump these 5 kids in with others who have actually committed fucking crimes and broke the law. LaMichael James, Jeremiah Masoli and others were found guilty of CRIMES. TP and the others didn't break a law. They broke NCAA rules. Rules that maybe they did or didn't know. Was LaMichael James not sure if it was OK to smack his girlfriend around? Chris Rainey too. These guys broke the fucking LAW. Herbie can shove anything his says right back up his ass.

TP and others may very well have known what they were doing was wrong but there is no way they should be lumped in with criminals.

[sarcasm]Way to be a stand up Buckeye.[/sarcasm]

Someone already said this.. ESPN = WWE. They are more focused on Entertainment part of (Entertainment & Sports) programming. More the noise, better it's for them. I'd prefer to be quiet. Try to avoid ESPiN when you can.

You just have to realise... $$$ changes people. Not the first time.

FIFY, I wasn't sure how to spell the felatio type sounds I kept hearing, and I wasn't sure which were from Mushburger and which were Herbies, so I didn't include them. Pitiful, but I was having fond rememberences of Joe Buck and Thom Brennaman announced games last night. espIn work at its finest was on display last night :2004:

I was actually impressed with the Cotton Bowl and the announcers on Fox. They didn't really know the college game and called out good plays and bad plays, while analyzing the game. Herbie needs to get off script because he's tarnishing whatever respect he had left.

He was dreadful in the game last night. He talks way too much and doesn't add anything useful. My dad used to call it diarrhea of the mouth and a constipation of ideas. It's a tv broadcast, we can see the game. It's not a radio broadcast. You don't have to fill in every second of silence with the sound of your voice. You don't have to say something before and after every single play. The good ones know how to sit back and let the audience watch the game. Herbstreit loves the sound of his own precious voice too much to ever let that happen. [/flameoff]

I think Herbie used to be good at what he did, which was sit in a studio or on a game day set and discuss all the games of the day. Then for some reason espIn decided to put him in the booth (wonder if looks had anything to do with it :smash:) he just rehashes talking points throughout the game, and as others said, doesn't add much at all.

Blackledge and Spielman do MUCH better jobs as analysts, [mark may] even Millen brings insight into a game and doesn't just spout keywords.
