QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

Was he asked about Pelini? (didn't hear the interview either)

I don't know what he was asked. That is why I asked for some context. Reading some comments it appears that maturity or lack thereof was a central point in Kirk's comments about Pryor. I suppose there is a fine line between immaturity and passion. On the same Saturday I saw a QB not afraid to show his passion to his teammates and I saw his teammates respond on a 4th and 10 when Boren came off his block to hustle downfield and throw another block for Pryor. On the same weekend I saw a HC rip into his QB and effectively neuter whatever passion was left in his QB. I'll take the passion every day of the week.

Even the most passionate player has to keep his cool, especially when they are the quarterback. I would prefer Terelle be a little more unflappable when things get tough.

His cool looked okay to me when he ran 14 yards for a 1st down to keep a drive and BCS Bowl game hope alive. A few plays later I saw Gonzo II. That doesn't happen with a lack of cool.

Couldn't agree more. Someone who flipped the passion switch into the realm of discombobulation wouldn't/couldn't have pulled it together to pull out a win in Kinnick.

Herbie knows all too well.. that intense pressure and scrutiny comes with being the OSU QB

If Herbie came off as an OSU homer... what would that do to his career, reputation and status as a national analyst... He'd be Mark May

To think he's not hoping from the deepest part of his heart that OSU and TP are the best of the best.. so he can scream it... is ludicrous... but he MUST present himself as unbiased

So he whores himself out to ESPN. Mark May is a fucking idiot because he's a fucking idiot, not becuase he's a Pitt homer. Robert Smith manages to keep his bias in check without verbally raping tOSU.

One would think Pryor would have better things to do this week.....

A thread on how much someone loves their former school.... Seriously?!? Who gives a [censored] if Herbie loves the Bucks hates the Bucks or anything in between. It does not change a damn thing how I feel about them or how much *ichigan can f*** theselves and eat a big steamy pile of [censored] now does it.

I'm sure Herbie got a bonus for that interview. He is going above and beyond the call of duty as a "College Football Expert".

Was Pat McGroin immature as he was talking trash to OSU sideline. Was Pat McGroin a doosh for pouting on the sideline after he got benched? No, he has "moxie" and there will be " better days ahead for this young man".

If Herbie was a mature adult and had any respect for OSU he would just not comment on this or just say something to the affect of "hey tensions run high. football is an emotional game. TP could show more composure but you can tell he just wants to win"

This gets the point across about your dissapproval of his actions, but doesn't throw him under the bus.

Ouch, that's some tough words for a College QB. I really would like to know what has transpired between Herbie & TP in private because theirs obviously something between them we don't know about.
[strike]This.[/strike]

Edit: should have listened first. I just think that Herbie is mad and disappointed in what happened. I think he was more alum fan player Herbie talking than sports analyst.

And it could be his attempt to tough love bitch slap TP into the realization that his whole attitude about the game and life is on the wrong path. I think that a lot of what he says is true. The fact that it includes some criticism of a star QB is upsetting to some folks. Hell, players are not criticised on BP per rule. But that does not mean that none of them deserve it. Here, maybe this will be a wake up call that can humble some of the guys and make them better men in the future. I hope so.

it's ALL about the "tweeting" nowadays... imo, herbstreit clearly hasn't gotten over pryor's tweet about herbstreit being a fake buckeye.

To clarify, I believe Pryor should be fully accountable for his actions. I do question his leadership quality, or lack thereof, and his apparent immaturity. However, I think it is ironic that Herbstreit, who self proclaimed to be objective regardless of his Buckeye roots, sounded like an immature individual who still begrudged about what went on between him and Pryor. His assessment of this particular situation sounds more like a head hunt for Pryor than an objective evaluation.
