Clarity.

There are others who are more supportive of Zwick than I am of Smith. So why offer to change my name to Smith and make it as if I've put him before the team ?

Isn't playing Zwick even though he is hurting the team, "putting Zwick before the team" ?

I want the best qb to play and when Zwick was showing flashes of greatness I gave him my full support but I think that all he has shown is flashes and is very inconsistant.

How is asking for Smith to get a shot selfish, after what Zwick is doing ?

Suggesting Smith get a shot isn't selfish or inappropriate at all. Pulling for Smith to start isn't either. Being frustrated with Zwick's play or progression isn't a problem.

I agree there are people as violently pro-Zwick as you are anti-Zwick and pro-Smith. I just don't think it does your position any favors to be as overzealous as they are in your position.

You know I've respected your posting as far back as we've been posting together. I think that was demonstrated by the move I made when you came over here. But lately I feel like you need to take some of your own advice. "BE EASY."

We've now lost 2 in a row, while I feel the OL is a *much* bigger problem than the level of play of either the RBs or Zwick, I wouldn't argue for a moment if Smith started next week. I wouldn't have argued if he started this week, or came into the game. I won't argue if Zwick is still the starter next week. It's not because I don't have an opinion, or think that Tressel always has the right answers -- it's because with the play of the OL, I think you could put Brett Favre at QB, and he's going to put up shitty numbers.

On one hand I feel like we need to stick with Zwick, that all this experience is going to make him better. On the other hand, I think with zero protection, we need Smith's mobility to help evade some of the pressure and create opportunities.

I'm glad we have two kids with promise back there, another in Todd B. and another yet coming up with Rob S.

Anyway, I may well be out of line, but I just think you're a better poster than you've been showing as of late.

Streeed Out (Did Cooper step back into the building?)

I'm usually positive but Zwick is struggling to a degree that reminds me of Steve Bellisari and Stanley Jackson. I don't care if your ankle and left hand are hurt. Wisconsin's Q.B. was pressured and simply threw the ball away all day without a sack. Smith is either horrible or has made Tressel very mad. If I were Smith, I would be looking to transfer. This is starting to look a lot like the Cooper years when we stuck with a quarterback out of loyality or for whatever reason I have no answer to. I have simply and as calmly as I can, excepted a long season in hopes of a great next year. Maybe we can be a spoiler. Does anyone know were Santonio Holmes has been lately? Someone has stolen his uniform and is playing for the Buckeyes. If Ginn is as good as he looks, get him the ball more. I could go on for hours with all of my questions about this football team but I need to keep my priorities in line. Tressel will feel the Buckeye Nation's pressure this week. He needs to wear headphones all week.

Zwick's Performance

Well I'm going to be the one who says it and I still love Tressel, but Tressel should honestly feel ashamed of himself for telling Smith he was neck and neck with Zwick. Can you imagine what Smith has to be thinking? What has Zwick done to merrit him as still the starter? It couldn't do anything but help?!?? We were losing and only way we had to go from there was up. So why not do something different and just give the kid a shot? I'm Tired of Tressel's so called "loyalty" if he wants to win he'll do whats best for the team. I'm starting to feel like Smith is correct when he talks about there's stuff we don't see behind closed doors. This is an Absolutly sad situation.

It's probabl 95% mental for Zwick at this point. He's taken 2 years to learn the offense. He's got all of the talent. The more time he takes to play the more comfortable he'll become. The more he plays the more you'll see those happy feet disappear. Stop it with the inexorably stupid comments. You're not a coach, no matter how long you stand on your soapbox here.

If you watched the game, the O-line gave Zwick the time he needed on many plays. He missed atleast four opportunities for long gains or possible scores. He consistently hangs on to the ball and he dances a lot. Blaming the O-line for an inadequate Q.B. is not the answer. Line was much better today. We simply had to play from behind and abandoned the run too early. We do not have the same O-line that can open huge holes for the traditional isolation and traps we have run in the past. Pitman should see more playing time and we need to utilize the quick hitting plays, the bubble screens, and the flare passes. Our success on the ground today came on misdirection and flare passes (yes I realize that thee flare pass is a pass) I wish I was a coach at Ohio State because I have all the right answers.

It's cool. I think everyone is in shock over what transpired today. I am breaking my cardinal rule of not posting on the day of a loss...I'm just so angry I had to vent some things as well.

We've now concluded that Bollman needs fired, Pittman needs all the carries, Smith should take all the snaps, and every play should be either (a) an iso w/ joe as the lead block, (b) a streak to Ginn, or (c) a screen / flare pass to one of the backs or receivers.

Sounds like our imgaination is less active than our OC's.

I am pro "the best qb" should play. The thing is, I often think that Smith is the better of the two and that is not very popular.

My opinion on the qb subject is not respected by other posters nor admins I guess.

Many guy's would rather eat doo doo before watching Smith start at qb. That is not my problem.

How does wanting the guy to start, who I believe is the best man for the job, not being a good poster ? Isn't that what everyone who believes that Zwick is the best man for the job is doing ?

I'm sorry, I just don't understand the protection of Zwick here. It seems everyone has been fair game for criticism except for Zwick.

But I will back off if it makes everyone uncomfortable.

No one is asking you to stop. But I think you could go back and review some of your posts as of late and see that you cross the line from "the best qb should play" into rampant and rather nasty Zwick bashing -- often (in the past) with suggestions (intentional or not) that make race the issue.

My comments to you are an observation. I don't claim to be right, it's just what I'm seeing. What I have seen in your last 4-5 posts is a much more reasonable stance backed by solid points.

Backing Smith is a lot different than putting him before the rest of the team, and right now you're backing Smith. I have no complaints with your recent postings. You know full well I've had to be told on a number of occasions that I need to stop and take a breath. I just wanted to offer you the same advice. Seems like you had already done that just moments before I suggested you do. So fault to me for poor timing.
