QB Julian "Just" Sayin (Official Thread)

I am amused that Sayin is hailed as a perfect drop back passer. Translated, he'll throw from the pocket but cannot scramble. When we got Nolan, he was touted to have a great arm, and could escape the pocket rush. Translated, he can take off and run. McCord was blasted because he couldn't run. Day basically told CJ not to scramble, because there was nothing behind him if he got hurt. Appears that Day wants whatever he doesn't have, yet bounces back to what he has. I don't much care which works, as long as the QB marches the team into the end zone. Good runs liven the game up, and cause conniptions from the opposing defense, and break their hearts when a scramble leads to a first and ten. Oh well, that's football. Go Bucks

Have you seen Sayin's highlight tape? He can scramble and move in the pocket...

No, GB2, haven't seen it. It all happened so fast, and doubt the Bama folk would share the tapes....It's been my experience that when a QB can do both run and shoot, they work into their article 'combo QB' or somesuch wordsmithing. Hey, I hope he can put a good spin on target, and escape any pressure (not with our Oline coming up!), and know when to do either. Wished the Elite 11 would measure escapability as well as tossing it accurately. Probably wouldn't want to return any competitor to their teams damaged....Go Everything Buckeye!

Truth be told. Bama wouldn't need to release any tape. Sayin is a true freshman and just signed with Bama last month. Class of 2024. There is a ton of highlight tape of him available online. Besides having a cannon for an arm, the kid has some wheels when he needs them.

Im not sure about the wheels, but he's not a statue either. I see a lot of CJ, with more willingness to take the easy yards on the ground.

Noland vs Sayer could end up a lot like Burrow vs Haskins.

I was going to say the same thing. His accuracy is outstanding. He is definitely mobile. Freaking stole this kid!

Agree with above. Gonna be a 'cream will rise to the top', or 'the best QB will win', or ? Depending how the spring goes, they'll have a year to learn the playbook, beef up the body, learn, learn, learn, before they have to take the field for real. To me, the wild card is 'Dakota boy'. He's lying low in the weeds, watching and waiting, with two above him, and two below him. One's gone after this season, and perhaps the other is gone after spring. He seems smart enough, and certainly athletic enough (POY in three sports?!) to succeed. I am in the camp that his Mizzu bowl performance was arguably better than Brown's, even given that 99.9% of coaching for that game was given to Brown. Certainly will be interesting to watch. Wonder if Day & Kelly will promote one of the 5*s over him to keep them around? Interesting to see how the onion will be peeled.
