QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

I've watched the Maryland game twice now. While he has greatly improved, he still has a few tweaks to make. He badly missed at least two receivers over the middle who were wide open, and made two really, really head-scratching throws: The pass that should've been a pick-six on the opening drive (how the DB didn't intercept that is beyond me) and the double-pump sideline pass around our own five that ended going backwards (i.e., a lateral) and a loss of a couple yards. Yeah, even Johnny Unitas and Joe Montana missed open receivers, but those two other passes could've clearly swung the momentum of the game and are the kind of things you can't get away with against better defenses.

So happy to see this. Absolutely love JT and everything he has done for our program, he will go down as one of our all-time greats no matter what. That being said, I want to see him take us to the promise land not just for the university and fans, but because he deserves it. Kid has given it his all here and everything has been well-earned.

I said after OU that I was afraid we’d never see a fully functional Kevin Wilson offense with JT under center. I’m here to call myself an idiot. We’re seeing it right now, and it’s a fucking war machine.

I think many of us expected them to just be game ready from the get-go. Clearly, they needed a few weeks.

Is JT perfect? Nope. No qb is. But, he’s looking like the qb we all thought he was going to become three years ago. When you look at those career statistics, and all of the records he holds, then realize he spent two years toiling under the offensive Tim Beck/Ed Warriner offense, it’s astounding.

Now, the first real test is in two weeks. That’s when I thing we will see if Kevin Wilson has his armed and fully functional Death Star offense.

I’ll also say this, if JT continues to play at 80% of what he did tonight and has some big games (like MSU ‘14) against the pedtards and scUM, he should absolutely be in the Heisman discussion.

21 td, 1 int through 7 games. That is mind-boggling.
