QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

The Heisman is out the window, the opponents weak. I really like this kid, but I will believe he's been un-Becked only after PSU. Rutgers was a second big step in the right direction.

He hit someone deep in stride for the first time in a long time though it was called back. Also completed a few more deep passed. He was still late on a lot of throws but he continues to improve week to week.

Ok maybe someone can speak on this because it's been bugging me the last few weeks even though JT has been playing very well.

The media across the board notes that JT has been doing well but still hesitates and gets happy feet regardless. My question is at what point is JT just being patient? How the hell can anyone tell he's hesitating instead of he's just stepping up and finding the open man? Also how can anyone tell a re-clutch of the ball isn't him just saying "He's open throw it, wait not any more" ?

I remember one instance where JT was looking at a double slant to his left and went to throw to the inside guy but the safety or OLB broke on the play so JT pulled the ball down for a moment and then threw to the outside slant for a completion. It looked odd but he did it because the situation changed when he went to originally throw. As for the happy feet? what the hell is anyone talking about with that? This is the best he's looked from a foundation stand point in quite some time.

I don't notice him patting the football much anymore, he's stepping up more so and throwing from the pocket as people bear down on him, and I think he does look improved. What do you guys see because I don't personally feel he's "hesitating" but rather just being patient.

I still firmly believe that weak competition early on to get in sync is a good thing. To have success against the big dogs you have to figure out what success looks like. That's part of the justification for the early schedule in my opinion. Tune up and work it out. Hitting OK in week two didn't allow enough time to prepare for them. Wonder how we'd look against them next week.

JT is playing at a high level right now. His stats are impressive. His TD to Interception ratio is great. He is getting in a rhythm and developing chemistry with his receivers. He is starting to hit the deep ball. He is anticipating his throws better. Yet, there are still areas he can improve in. I like the trajectory he is on.

16 touchdowns. 1 interception.

Hopefully our spoiled fan base will stop the bitching.
Right or wrong, I don’t expect that to happen until he performs well in a big game. He’s looked very good the past few weeks, and he appears to be making some throws he hasn’t the past two seasons. But, frankly, it has been against teams a good qb should be lighting up.

I will say, he has responded well to all of the heat he was taking after the Oklahoma debacle. For the first time since, he’s looking like the elite qb he was on his way to being in 2014. I’m encouraged, but I’m not sure he’ll be able to shake that monkey off his back until we play the pedtards. If he struggles again in that game, it will be right back to square one. But, he’s playing light years better under Day/Wilson than he did the past two seasons under Beck/Warriner.
