QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

Yeah, I pretty much stay off social media for these reasons. I personally don't see the time being well spent. It's the modern version of the water cooler, but one that attracts more wackos.

I don't mind social media. Constantly traveling and being away in the military, it's a must. But the player bashing by coach coaches is absolutely at an all time high.

Barrett banner flies at Ohio State

The banner that will trail behind an airplane circling Ohio State’s football stadium prior to the Buckeyes showdown Saturday with Michigan at 11 a.m. will be a display of hometown pride for J. T. Barrett—a quarterback who wanted to play at the U of Texas only to become a force in Columbus, OH.

A number of Wichitans are responsible for Saturday’s flight.

Harry Patterson and Patterson’s Family of Dealerships is being joined by Midwestern State Foundation, American National Bank, Falls Distributing, M Shallenberger—Pioneer Restaurant, Fidelity Bank, plus a number of individuals who donated to the cause.

Barbara Grazdan, Jerry Johnson, Janus Buss, Woody Gossom and Darrell Coleman came forward to help finance the plane and banner that will read: “WICHITA FALLS, TX. PROUD HOME OF J.T. BARRETT.”

Saw someone say that yesterday JT was terrible as a quarterback, but great as a football player. Summed it up well, if you ask me. Glad we have him leading us into battle, hope that the 4th quarter and OT gets some confidence in his arm and decision making in the passing game.

I hope that he will stay for another year and work with a great QB coach, even if one is not currently on staff. He has heart. He is an intelligent and instinctual player. But he needs to work on his throwing mechanics and judgement. I think he has a future in the pros, if he does, notwithstanding limitations that others have noted.

He was a different QB under Herman. I blame the late throws and indecision on Beck. The execution is not right. Speight made throws yesterday where the ball is in the air immediately before the reciever exits his break and the rush has no chance to get to him. JT could do the same and take pressure off the oline. But we NEVER do it. EVER.

The ball is late most of the time. It's on the coach.

Don't get me wrong, I think Beck is a pretty awful QB coach, but he has little to do with JT throwing so late into the pass progression. Blame the young OL, and the very inexperienced WRs for that. OSU has a bunch of fast guys, but have a ways to go in terms of routing running and creating separation. That said, he did miss some guys WIDE open down the field, credit scUM for getting him to move the launch point basically eliminating any short side 9 routes.

If you watch the games live, you can see all of the receivers. MANY MANY MANY times guys are wide ass open and are not targeted. Also, you can see clearly when JT's primary target comes open and how long it takes him to cut it loose. Good QBs are coached to have a clock in their head and the ball better be gone before you get to 3. JT holds it past 4 a LOT. It was so obvious yesterday how much better Speight was even though he threw 2 picks. The ball was out of Speights hand so much earlier it was insane. It isn't on the receivers. JT didn't hold it too long in 2014 and neither did Cardale. They both had the same issues last year. The ball just doesn't come out on time.

My biggest concern with it is why Urban hasn't fixed it. Spielman talked about it a lot last year and I said the same thing then. It is the QBs job to deliver the ball before the receiver makes his break and he needs to deliver it to a point. JT doesn't do this. Most of his completions are not leading the receiver but high, low, behind, etc. He throws some good balls, but too many of them come out late. That is how I see it.

JT never throws when the receiver is starting his break..either he doesn't trust the receiver or his arm. That's why I wish the WR position was set. Troy looked unstoppable but he had WR that were pros Holmes GinnGonzalez et al

The thing that blew us all away about Barrett in 2014 was his anticipation and accuracy, they were off the charts for a redshirt frosh. I remember Herman raving about how he'd never seen such good accuracy. Every once and a while we see flashes of that, but for the most part he's been reduced to a runner that's a serviceable passer.
Tim.

Beck.

For the sake of the future's of Burrow, Haskins, and Martell, I pray they move in a new direction for QB Coach/Co OC.

Ive never seen a season with such a lack of concrete, starting WR set. We've never had a year (that I can remember) where we haven't had a true #1 & #2 WR. I think this is what the coaches were afraid of with its use. Zach Smith churned out great receivers so I'm perplexed with the "why".

JT is becoming Tim Tebow. Amazing athlete, one of the best field generals Ohio State has ever had, great vision, tough, and most importantly - accyracy is fading. Unlike Tebow he has solid mechanics and throwing motions. He has the skill set but something is wrong with his mind and Beck is NOT the guy that will fix it.

I agree but why hasn't Urban stepped in to see if he can fix it like he did the D a few years ago. Will see in the off season if anyone is held accountable.

It is frustrating because WRs are frequently running free, JT just isn't seeing it. I don't know what happened to him after losing the job to Cardale last year, but he doesn't seem comfortable releasing the ball unless his target is WIDE open. After nearly three full seasons as a starter, the fact that he's not demonstrating improved touch or any ability to throw a receiver open is disconcerting.
