QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

Agree to disagree. I think Guarantano is plenty good enough to keep defenders honest with his passing (love his release and potential, though admittedly Haskins is more advanced).

The threat of the QB makes it quite a bit easier for the RB and some of the scrambles by Cardale Jones/JT Barrett this season were absolutely crucial to pick up first downs and keep drives moving. Guarantano potentially gives you the best of both worlds. Not saying we wouldn't also have a very good offense with Haskins (or another QB who wasn't much of a runner), but the running QB provides a ton of advantages.

Dominant OL, deep stable of talented RBs, skilled TEs, hybrid weapons, stud WRs, passing QB and even if you stop all that for 3 downs, to have a guy who can scramble for the 1st on top of everything else can take the offense to an even higher level going forward.

(FWIW, I don't think we need a "run first" type of QB who is a mediocre passer. Ideally, we want a pass first QB who is also a good runner. I think Jones, Barrett, Collier and Burrow all fit that mold. Braxton has been working in that direction and Gibson could get there in a few years.)
He can run okay, but with how he distributes the ball he doesn't have to. I'd like to see more runs but his speed isn't awful, I mean he's not Gaurantano. His best run is at the 3:07 mark. After watching Guarantano's highlights again I'm swinging back in his favor because he still hasn't reached his ceiling and Haskins appears to be really close to capping his skills. Both will be elite.

Potential Home Stretch For Blue-Chip Haskins
When the recruiting process got rolling for Haskins, he believed his mind was mind up.

“I thought I was going to Ohio State,” Haskins said. “It was my dream school as a kid growing up. Now I have all these other big schools I’m talking to and learning about, I had to slow this down and look into the other schools. After seeing what else is out there made me not get into the hype of a dream school.”

“Probably get back to Rutgers and Maryland and Penn State one more time and Ohio State too,” he said.

Staying home, good for Dwayne. Sucks it didn't work out for him to be a Buckeye, but glad he stayed in conference and hopefully he can make the Terps stronger.

I hope this sticks! Unfortunately for them, the phone calls aren't going to stop for him until he signs on the dotted line in Feb.

Good luck to Haskins at Maryland! Fantastic early pick-up by the Terps that they can build around for the future.
