QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

Just watched his highlights and wow does he throw a beautiful ball for a sophomore. Really great touch and accuracy, plus he has plenty enough pop on the ball which will only improve as he develops. He squares really well to his target and follows through, which gives him some pretty remarkable precision...those balls are just right on the money and put right at the proper extension point for his receivers. He is just going to flat-out produce and get the ball distributed, which would be ideal with the guys we have here/are coming here. I would have liked to see a couple runs to gauge his athleticism but as a passer, he is very gifted.
Do you like Haskins or Malik Henry better?

Not RB07, but I like Haskins better now but Henry's potential better. Going off of film Haskins is more accurate and appears to have better form, but Henry has a stronger arm. And what's weird is at least the film I've seen of henry there's basically no running in it. I'm assuming he's a gifted runner since he's the #1 DT QB, but I haven't seen it. But from us going for burrow instead of Waller, you can see what our staff wants. Pass first, ability to run. Haskins fits that more. It's a tough decision though, because Henry is a better passer than you may think considering he's a DT guy.

It's also almost possible to tell from film, but football IQ is something that would obviously play a huge factor as well.

Idk if the Burrow commit shows that the staff wants primarily pass first QBs, as Urban has stated on multiple occasions that Braxton is the most gifted QB, our QB depth chart is a mix of DT QBs with Miller, Jones and Barrett being more run first and Collier being pass first. But the common theme is that all can move the chains with their legs if need be. The upcoming seasons for both Haskins and Henry will be important towards showing our staff who'll fit our scheme better.

Really UpNorth sums it up well for me....I would LOVE either one to be our guy in '16. Haskins does have the better form and consistency right now, but Henry has an outright cannon...I can't even track the ball sometimes when he lets it rip. Henry is taller right now and definitely has the higher "star" potential but I am not sure we really even need that with our skill guys. Plus Kyle Allen is a good example of a guy that grew about 4 inches between his junior and senior year and his ability grew ten-fold...I could see the same with Haskins. I will also say that Henry showed more ability to move around from what I have seen, but Haskins' film online may be incomplete ...HS QBs, by nature, HAVE to run at some point...not sure why it doesn't show up at some point on Haskins' film. I guess at the end of the day if you held a gun to my head and made me choose, I would go with Henry. Maybe it is just the Cali connection to the Westlake HS speaking, or the ridiculous ceiling speaking. But I will also say if we are choosing between Henry and Haskins for our QB, we will be extremely fortunate...I love both guys and think they would both excel here.

JEROME BAKER'S BIG DECISION, TOMMY KRAEMER TO VISIT AND DWAYNE HASKINS' SUMMER PLANS
HASKINS FEELS THE LOVE

Years ago, Dwayne Haskins, Jr. visited Ohio State. That visit was captured via grainy video footage, but the country's 90th-ranked 2016 prospect got an updated and "live-in-HD" review when he and his family visited Ohio State two weeks ago. As one of a handful of quarterbacks in 2016 to already hold a Buckeye offer, Haskins is working hard to gain clarity on a potential college choice. He told Eleven Warriors in mid-May that he was just beginning to develop a relationship with Ohio State's current coaching staff, so his recent visit was an important one for the signal-caller from Potomac, Maryland.

"(My relationship) with Coach (Urban) Meyer has changed a lot since May," Haskins told 11W. "I feel much more comfortable with the coaching staff compared to when they offered."

One of the reasons for that increased comfort is seeing Ohio State again, this time through the eyes of a prospect looking to make a wise college choice as opposed to an awestruck eight-year-old.

"A lot of the questions I had about Ohio State have been answered," he said when asked how the years impacted his memory about the Buckeyes. "A lot of the (old feelings) were there, I remembered a lot of the facilities and stuff even though there were renovations going on."

As a highly-sought-after recruit, the Buckeyes had to show Haskins all facets of the school, not just the football program; that is the area people know about already.

"We spent a lot of time on campus, meeting with academic advisors and they went through and told me a lot about who've graduated from Ohio State that went on to become sportscasters for major networks, because I want to get into broadcasting. Academics is also going to be important to me, so I have to think about life after football too. I want to be comfortable and make sure they have my best interest in mind."

As far as what is in Haskins' best interest on the field? That's finding a school where he'll be comfortable and has a chance to win a lot of games. He realizes as a quarterback he's got the chance to be a leader in a recruiting class and he wants to be just that. Of course, that doesn't mean he's going to rush into a choice. He is also aware of the rumors that Ohio State leads for a number of players at his position.

"I'm still going to decide during my junior year," Haskins said. "I know a lot of great kids in the 2016 class that would like to join me where ever I commit to. The main goal is to find a school that's right for me and to not rush the process. (Ohio State) has made it clear that I'm their top guy and there's no pressure for me to commit early. I know where I stack up."

He's been to Ohio State, Notre Dame, West Virginia and a few other schools this summer, but Haskins is hardly done with his travel plans. He's even considering a return trip to Columbus, if he can swing it.

"I'm still going to the Rivals Camp Series Underclassman Challenge next week in Dallas, and I'll visit Florida, Florida State and potentially Texas and Tennessee still. There's no time for recess or a break," he continued. "I might get back to Ohio State for Friday Night Lights and I'm thinking about watching them when they play Navy and then one game at home. The Big Ten has a bunch of games I can attend."

Ohio State at the Very Top for 2016 QB Dwayne Haskins
The quarterback position is arguably the biggest position to recruit for every recruiting class. Coaches spend many hours traveling to watch quarterbacks throw in front of them. The 2016 QB class is already a deep class and some of the top quarterbacks have Ohio State at the top or around the top 5. Dwayne Haskins has Ohio State at the VERY top. The 6-2 quarterback from Maryland has offers from many of the top programs across the nation including Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Tennessee. One of those stands out to Haskins and that is Ohio State. Dwayne told me the reason he loves Ohio State so much is because of what the program has to offer and because of the tradition. He recently took a visit to Columbus which he came away very impressed, and added to his overall feel of Ohio State.

“I sat down and talked with the staff a lot,” Haskins said of his visit to Ohio State. “I walked around the campus, got to go to the school store as well. I love the atmosphere at Ohio State overall.”

Haskins had a very good time on his visit to Ohio State. I asked him what they told him about playing there and he told me that they love him as a quarterback. “They said that I have a lot of potential that I have not tapped into yet but I already show great skills,” Haskins said of what the staff thinks of him. Haskins and Ohio State seem to have a very strong relationship. I think that feeling of love is mutual between Haskins and Ohio State.

As for the rest of the summer, he is making a Florida swing, attending the Rivals Camp in Jacksonville, Florida, one of the most prestigious underclassmen camps, and then visiting Florida State and Florida. He is not sure if he is going to make it back up to Ohio State for Friday Night Lights but he is trying to work that out. He wants to be a Sports Broadcaster when his football career is over, but from what school is he going to receive his degree? Haskins told me you’ll know after this season. Haskins is very excited about the chance to play football for Ohio State. I know a lot of quarterbacks are interested in Ohio State for 2016, but I think Haskins is going to be the quarterback of the class. He loves everything Ohio State has to offer and I think he is going to be a Buckeye when he announces after the season. I am excited to see his recruitment and his game develop over the next couple of seasons.

Just watched this kids Soph film. I am nowhere close to a talent evaluator but I sure do see what people mean when they say he throws with nice touch. From the clips I saw it looked like he put each pass in the perfect spot for the WR. I have no clue about how important arm strength is and whether this kid has the physical tools that people talk about but he just seems to throw an awfully nice ball to me.
