QB Devin "Utah" Brown (Transfer to ???)

I’m right there with you and I think you described it well. I thought LK showed better in his limited opportunities.

Hoping to see Devin shine in the bowl game.
What on earth did LK show better? He has about 3 garbage time drives under his belt with no downfield passes or TDs. Devin Brown has actually ripped some darts down the field and scored TDs. Obviously not a great runner, but y'all are taking it way too far with how he played in his first few games. I say this as someone who loved LK coming out of HS, so I'm not rooting for Brown over him. Just don't see the rush to declare him a bust

I’ll take throw to Thurman any day that LK laid out there. He also looked to have good poise. Again, all this is limited as is Brown’s action.
I’m certainly not calling Brown a bust and I have yet to see any else say that either. I think you’re projecting there.

Im worried the bowl game either sets him in stone as the starter in a win... or makes him into a pariah with the fanbase in a loss.

This fan base is known for being patient and rational. I'm sure nobody would overreact to one game, positively or negatively.

Buckeyes are 'fired up' for Devin Brown to get his chance in Cotton Bowl, show Ohio State fans what he can do

Devin Brown is going to start at quarterback for Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl after season-long starter Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal earlier this month. That much we know. We don’t know what the Buckeyes will look like with Brown as the starting quarterback.

Brown spent the offseason in competition with McCord and pushed it into the first two weeks of the season before head coach Ryan Day named McCord the full-time starter. Brown played in five games in 2023, serving as the Scarlet and Gray’s red zone quarterback before suffering an ankle injury against Penn State.

While Ohio State fans have seen Brown in games – he’s played 87 snaps across two seasons – there’s still a lot of mystery about Brown. Even the Buckeyes don’t know for certain what they will get from Brown as the team’s starter.

“You wait to get into the game to kind of see it all,” Day said when asked about Brown during his early signing day press conference earlier this week. “But I think it's just the experience of getting more and more reps under your belt. But also, when you're with the ones, and you're with the starters all the time, I think you can play maybe a little bit more freely and not worried about making a mistake. And so that's been good to see.”

Brown has taken control of the team since McCord entered the transfer portal. Unlike in the offseason, he is getting to take the first-team reps and, as Day mentioned, not having to worry as much about competing with another player. Freshman Lincoln Kienholz is the only other contender to play in the Cotton Bowl but will serve as Brown’s backup.

All I want for Christmas is for Brown to go out there and answer every single question about his abilities.

Would absolutely love to see him just ball out and eliminate any doubts about what he can do.

If that happens and the rumors of the amount of players returning are true…….look out.

No pressure 33. Just seize this opportunity.

If Brown does that the rest of the offseason is easier for everyone.

Bolded is what I am hoping the missing link is. Brown was a recruit I was super excited on for a lot of reasons and saw a lot of Burrow-like qualities in his game. But just no more than Burrow is not Lamar Jackson, Brown is not Braxton Miller and that is about how we used him most of the time. Then when he threw the ball playing with the ones when he usually doesn't, there is no rhythm for a lot of reasons.

His overall play was pretty bad, but as the clear starter and after reps with the ones, we could see a completely different Devin Brown. Fingers crossed.
