I think Stroud has the ability to be a better runner than he’s shown. He won’t be as effective running as Braxton Miller, JT Barrett, or Justin Fields, but I think he can be much more of a running threat than Haskins was (at least in everyone’s mind but Screamin’ A). We’ve really been spoiled by the running ability of the QBs in mostly 9 of the last 10 years.Yeah, I know Stroud is not even 1/2 way through his 1st year (i.e. counting post season); however, I just remember Troy as being a much better runner.
He had a couple of nifty moves to avoid pressure and then make solid throws on Saturday, which was encouraging. I’m guessing the shoulder has limited the amount of called QB runs, and that Day has told him to minimize the hits he’s taking in games where tOSU is heavily favored. I’m thinking we’ll see more QB zone read and option calls in tougher games, especially in the red zone.
