I can go along with that.I don't know. QBs have performed extremely well under Ryan Day. So quite possibly. But that doesn't mean as much to me when he's 0-2 against ttun.

Would we have had the record we did the past two years without him?
I mean we don't really know much about McCord since they refuse to ever let him actually run a real offense when he does get into games. But he was a very highly rated recruit. He coulda probably managed 11 wins and a loss to scUM with our schedule this year.
Thing is we have seen Day's offense sputter like mad when the QB wasn't a run threat (Haskins in '18 and past two years of Stroud) so when you look at the QB room and it's all pocket passers...I have questions.
McCord I believe is even less mobile than Stroud? (correct if wrong)
I think Brown has enough mobility to do some things with his legs, hes no Braxton or Fields of course, but he seems more mobile than Stroud and McCord
as I understand it and from little we have seen
Raiola kid is being compared to Big Ben. I mean, it could work but it's a bit of a head scratcher on the surface.
You don’t have to be Lamar Jackson or something to keep people honest. Just be willing to run when there’s a lane. Something that simple forces a defense to have to be aware of it.
There’s countless plays on video where Stroud has a wide open lane to a first down and simply will not run. That kind of thing allows the defense to have an extra guy back because they know he will not run.
Stroud lacks the foresight to understand that 2 or 3 of those a game will actually open up passing lanes for him.
Is it just Stroud making the decision not to run himself or is he coached and conditioned not to run? That's the question.
If Day is telling his QB to not run even if it's wide open and keep looking for the pass in the pocket, that's a problem
What games do we lose with McCord instead of Stroud? Maybe Utah in the Rose Bowl, although that result was less about Stroud firing lasers into tight coverage and more about JSN being so ridiculously wide open that just about anyone could've delivered him the ball (he had an incredible 186 yards after catch, 53.6% of his yardage total). So i say that McCord wins that game as well.Would we have had the record we did the past two years without him?
He was bothered by the pressure, had trouble finding receivers, was late in delivering the ball, and missed some wide open throws, as evidenced by his rather meh numbers: 22/34 (.647), 305 yards, TD. There were plenty of bad plays - most notably missing a wide open Chris Olave in the end zone, and in the process somehow underthrowing a fifteen-yard pass by five yards - but there were some brilliant plays as well. Two that quickly come to mind were: (a) with 3:48 left in the 1st half, Stroud avoided a strong outside blitz, allowed his blocker (pulling guard Thayer Munford) to get into position to engage the pass rusher, stepped up in the pocket, kept his eyes downfield, and hit Chris Olave in stride for a 38-yard touchdown; and (b) with about 3:30 left in the game, Ohio State up six and needing a score to ice it, Stroud fired a laser beam to Jeremy Ruckert down the seam for a 30-yard gain that put Ohio State into field goal range. I don't think we see any other Ohio State quarterback except Dwayne Haskins make those throws, not even Justin Fields.
I never thought Stroud was a statue. On the rare occasion he used his legs, he actually looked like he could move. To me, it was more about him just not wanting to, or Day not wanting to. Hell, the one game he got into in 2020, he ripped off a 40-something yard TD run. We don't need another Braxton, or even JT Barrett; we just need a kid that can take what's give to him and be mobile enough to maybe mix in a few designed runs. Josh Allen isn't some speedy freak, but defenses have to respect his legs because he will hurt you with them. I don't know how many plays this year happened where Stroud could have easily picked up 8-10 yards with his legs but tried to force the ball into some tight or non-existent window instead. "Run it, CJ!" may have been my mantra this year.as I understand it and from little we have seen

Neither of whom would be described as "mobile" QBs, but both were not afraid to take off if it was there...and in Cardale's case, absolutely TRUCK people. The last two Buckeye QBs to win national championships were Craig Krenzel and Cardale Jones, not exactly Hall of Fame talents (but definitely Hall of Fame heart and desire).

JT may have been the least athletic "running" QB we've had. He wasn't a statue, but was proof of concept that you don't have to be an elite athlete to be dangerous with your legs. As for Fields, him shredding the NFL with his legs makes it seem like his legs may have been seriously underutilized. We all got used to seeing guys like Troy Smith, Pryor, Braxton, JT & Fields. That's why a guy like Stroud looks like a "statue" to most. He's not on the level of those guys by any means but he has enough ability that he should be able to make defenses at least respect his legs, but he never ever even slightly outside of maybe 1 game did that.
