QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Not it at all.

You guys need to take a step back off of the ledge and imagine if someone was saying these things about your child.

I get it! As someone who sat in the Stadium during most of Cooper’s meltdowns I TOTALLY understand the frustration but some of the stuff being said about players on here is disappointing and something I’d expect on other websites.

It’s not a moral high horse, it’s called being a human being.

So your are the voice of what it means to be a human being now eh?

You sure you understand what "self righteous" and "moralizing" mean?

They made defensive adjustments and then Michigan ran the ball, putting together a long TD drive because we dropped more guys out of the box. What game were some of you watching? Knowles called the right defense. It worked for most of the first half. The players simply weren't capable of executing it consistently.
Yep. If we played the conservative D we would have lost by 8 or 15 with the O getting the ball with no time.

He risked we would have the success of the first quarter and half and sporadically later to give us a chance to win the game instead of playing to lose close

As this venting has continued and some nuggets emerged, I think the answer is that Ohio State needs to be much stronger. Not physically strong, emotionally strong. If you had Kerry Combs on that sideline as a cheerleader, Ohio State wins that game. They were beyond emotionally flat and they had no guidance to lift them from the depths. Day needed to walk the bench and elevate them. Stroud needed to do the same and lead with his body if necessary. My son's lasting memory of The Game, "they really let down that guy playing with two broken hands." There was no Eichenberg on the offense.

More than anything, they needed CJ Stroud to lift them. Not criticizing the kid, but that is not in his DNA. Think of Field getting knocked out of the game and coming in and dropping that TD dime. Cardell trucking that Bama player. That is just not physical strength, it is emotional leadership. That is toughness. That is what CJ Stroud needs to focus on if he wants to lead an offense on the field.

I hate the "check with me" offense that Urban, Kevin Wilson, and Ryan Day run. I feel like this started with Wilson at Oklahoma with Sam Bradford back in the mid to late 00's -- at least it's the first I really noticed it. -- Give your QB two or three play sets from the formation and let them diagnose and decide what to do. The philosophy of looking back to the sideline for adjustments does not help your QB's development, and additionally results in too many delay of game penalties and unforced timeouts spent.
I saw an interview of Kevin Wilson on a BTN feature about Randy’s Walker, and Wilson said he first saw it when Clemson was doing it under Tommy Bowden with Rich Rod as his OC in 1999. Randy Walker and Wilson visited Clemson after the season, and they put that offense in for the Wildcats for the 2000 season. It got a lot of attention when they beat TTUN 54-51, getting 654 yards of offense.

This was about the spread, I’m not sure when the ‘check with me’ thing started. I think I was driven nuts by it when tOSU got Zooked in the Juice Williams game in 2007.

You guys are brutal man.
We're harsh because we lived through the John Cooper years. Cooper QBs won a lot of games, but had bad records against TTUN. Like it or not, Buckeyes are always judged by their successes and failures against scUM. That's how it's always been and always will be. Tressel and Meyer's players got that. Judging by CJ's post game comments, it would appear he doesn't. That might be more on Ryan Day than CJ, but it is what it is.

I think CJ is an immensely talented QB. He seems like an incredible young man. BUT, he went 0-2 in The Game. 20 years from now, will people remember the gaudy stats, Heisman Ceremony invites and blowout wins against B1G also rans, or will they remember that he lost 2 in a row in The Game after tOSU had gone 17-2 in the previous 19? We all know the answer. That's being a Buckeye...it just is.

"You are what your record says you are."

Fact is, CJ took the helm of a program that had been laying waste to the B1G for most of the previous two decades and while he won a lot of games, he lost the two most important ones (badly) and has zero championships as a two year starter. As a college QB, you're judged by your team's accomplishments. The last two years are lacking the big ones. He leaves with zero gold pants. Who is the last tOSU starting QB that can say that? (spoiler: you have to go back a long way).

and if you are going to point to Utah in the plus column don't forget Oregon.

Nice kid and I wish him well. I'm sure he tried hard but they don't hand out participation trophies in Columbus.
