I disagree with that. You won't find 99% of engineers, business majors, etc. that care about schools, let alone kids on scholarship to play a sport with the goal to go onto the pros. I just graduated from college. I also stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, so I know this shit!

I think you are confusing care with like. As an engineering major myself, I didn't go to school with anything that didn't care about school. On the other hand, many didn't like it.

You really need to pare that down some. A clear and vast majority of D1 athletes care about school. 99% or more are not going to play their sport for a living. Once you get to football, even just D1 overall, most still care about school. It's not until you get to top level BCS schools where you can start to see a majority only care about football.

Ohio State has over 1,000 scholarship student athletes. How many of them have a goal of going onto the pros?

Many classes are pointless..just don't tweet about it as a Football player at tOSU..We took 3 qtrs of PE when I was at tOSU. I took soccer snow skiing and golf. Suck at all 3.

He's got a point, it's just that, under the current setup, you have to be a student to play.

There are two kinds of college football players. Those who are there to play football, and those who are there to be students and play football. Cardale clearly is the former, as are untold numbers of D1 athletes. You can't blame them. They have a gift, they intend to make football their career, and they want to get on with the business of playing football.

It would be like me having to spend 15-30 hours per week running around the track at school when I'm really just there to get my degree. But if I don't run around the track, I don't get to go to class, don't get to have that diploma. I see his point... it's just that the world isn't set up this way.

I've long maintained that the NFL should be forced to maintain a D-League for the Cardales of the world. Let them go make 40K a year honing their one skill in Fargo or Fresno and working towards their only goal in life. Do so, and 99% of the problems in college football programs would go away.
