QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Seriously.
No offense to anybody, I can see some of the comparisons (particularly in this thread as I've had the same idea of Cardale's running style at times)
But... it's like a measure of how far we've gone w/o actual football when people are equating one QB to Tebow and the other to Manziel and Winston.

What an assumption, stating that my post in anyway is comparing Jones to Teabow. The post was just stating that having a bigger mobile QB in shortyardage situations could be handy. It was NOT stating that Jones=Tebow. Just that Jones could be used in certain situations similar to what Tebow was used. How effective he would be in that role is yet to be seen. But I do think he has the tools.

Reminds me of a line from that article pnuts just posted... "I'm not saying JT will win the heisman, I'm just implying it"

In any case you're hardly the only person in this thread and others making connections between Tebow and Cardale... it wasn't a dig at you... it wasn't a dig at anyone specifically... just an observation that the offseason has gone on too long at this point.

That I can certainly agree with. Lets get this season kicked off already.

And really, a FOURTH year sophomore Jones probably is comparable to a TRUE freshman Tebow. People look back to tebows freshman year and think he was a stud since they won the NCG, but he was essentially a role player.

Trying not to further the silly Tebow/Cardale comparison, but Tebow was not an edge rusher, which Cardale appears to be. Tebow was essentially a fullback who could pass. Everything I've seen from Jones is that he tries to get to the edge and around the tackles. I'm thinking there are better guys suited to handle that.

...walk on water and cure Herpes. Had he played at Penn State for Joesus they would have won six national championships in three years time. Had he played for Notre Dame Charlie would still be coaching and Touchdown Jesus would have a much more buff physique.

It seems like I read yesterday that Cardale and JT are close in their battle although Meyer still stated emphatically that JT is #1. Did anyone else hear that and his press conference?

Just sayin': It would be interesting to know just how much (in Meyer's evaluation) JT (the starter) is ahead of Cardale (the backup). If they are fairly close, it would be nice to see to see Cardale get a chance to play some this Saturday.
