QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Epitaph = tombstone or obituary. Just sayin'. Let's do this bull[Mark May] right...

Viet Cong -> VC -> Victor Charlie -> Charlie -> Not a racial epithet -> a military designation.

Run Charlie!

You forgot "Mr Charles" but other than that yeah.

:slappy:

well done overall, another significant contribution to the Drunken Online Rant Project

humanity owes you a debt which we may never be able to repay

So I'm up late and I stumbled upon Nick Saban's post game presser and near the end he was asked about our Chances against Oregon... He starts out saying we've got a great shot etc, but then he goes into how the difference with Cardale was that he really allowed our skill players to become bigger threats. He goes onto talk about how JT was a good runner and all but that with Cardale his arm talent really allowed our offensive skilled players to excel and do their part. He more or less insinuated that JT is good but he doesn't have what Cardale has

I know many people rag on Nick but I found it odd how obvious he hinted that Cardale was the better of the two... I know he'd just played 12 gauge but to be honest I couldn't agree more with coach Saban. It's what a lot of us on here talk about being the biggest difference between 16 and 12 which is Cardale's arm didn't allow team's to stack the box which in turn helped Zeke. Then when teams came up to stop Zeke we would Burn them deep or hit them with play action for chunk gains. The more I dive into who I feel will be the starter the more I feel it will either be Cardale or Braxton because of the Arm strength that both have, and considering how we don't know what Braxton gives us the safe money would be on Cardale.

I was also very concerned with how at the end of the year JT really relied on his legs more than he ever did all year... It was almost like he got confidence after the MSU win that he could scramble well and really started to lean on that part of his game instead of being the surgeon that he was all year passing. I'd be shocked the more I think about it if Cardale is not the starting QB because that sort of arm talent is rare and with the speed we have everywhere he really brings that tough running and down the field ability to drive the ball.

Ok. Pink Floyd/Wizard of Oz moment here, bear with me......

Watch this video

but mute it and instead listen to Wagner's Flight of the Valkyries. Start Wagner 1-2 seconds after the video

it's kind of uncanny how well it matches up with the crescendo hits during Zekes 85 yards through the heart of the south

If you get liquored up (@Saw31 ), do this and aren't yelling "run charlie" somewhere in the middle you either haven't watched enough Apocalypse Now or don't have a pulse.

Damn I wish we still had GPAs

I get the feeling roughly 1/3 of the fans will be behind each of the three guys. No matter who starts, 2/3 of the fanbase will be grumpy, ready to voice their opinions when things start to go wrong.

Go wrong? The only thing "going wrong" this season will be going wrong for our opponents.

Ha. True. But normally when there's a quarterback controversy, you're only upsetting half the fans by making a decision. This time will be 2/3 of the fans. I don't see it being too much of a problem, though.
"With Dude A in there, we only won that game 28-14. And all 14 points were Dude A's fault. With Dude B in there, we would have won 35-0!!!"
"Dude C would have won the game 42-0!!"
"Guys, you're both wrong. Dude A clearly did more than either of those guys could have done. They were holding our receivers and those 2 plays were screwed up because the referees blew it."

This will be a season long story line.

Expectations have never been higher..which means disappointment chances are also high. The season could end with a NC and many fans will still have had plenty of angst...
I think it was Duane Long who said Buckeye fans are like the kid at Christmas who dwells on the gifts he didn't get. I know a few folks like that.

It is a shame that Cardale gets credit only for the 3 three games of the season. As I remember it, he entered the TSUN game with things very much in doubt, completed something like 6 of 9 (I should look it up), did not fumble, and made the right read on the fourth down play where tOSU ran the triple option that sprang EZ for the long run that sealed it. I should have re-watched it before opening my mouth, but I suspect if it were baseball and Cardale was the relief pitcher, he would have gotten the win, not a save.

At 60 Ihave been through a lot of Christmasses and a lot of Buckeye football seasons..after the 69 season and the 74 and 75 seasons when I was an undergrad..I never take expectations as a sure thing.

After 02 and JT putting TTUN in their place, it's all positive to me. I spent most of the Cooper years unable to get the games on TV...

Good point on the UM game, maximum.

case in point the play vs scum where JT got hurt...if he hands the ball off instead of keeping it I believe EZE is still running. I may have to rewatch that now to confirm.....
