QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

With Schoenhoft's move to TE, it should be pretty clear as to who is the #2 QB for now. Keep in mind that Antonio is only a RS freshman, and Pryor has said he would not mind redshirting. Antonio will take over the reigns in 2009 (if he doesn't next year) for at least two years, grooming Pryor for his turn. Imagine having Henton as your starting quarterback only to have Pryor come in to spell him for a couple drives. Makes my hair stand on end just to think about it.

So, once Boeckman leaves after next season, we'll be seeing a lot of mobile quarterbacking at Ohio State. Michigan should be very, very concerned...

I'm sorry but if Pryor does indeed come to tOSU, once Boeckman is gone I think the job is most likely his.

It would be a pretty raw deal for Henton, who is a great player in his own right. I could definitely see him coming in for plays and getting some reps, but it would kind of be like the Justin Zwick situation. Still a very good player, but stuck behind a great player.

Pryor is too special of an athlete to not have playing every offensive snap with the ball in his hands, after probably a true-freshman year of playing a Tebow-like role to Boeckman. (IF he does become a Buckeye).

Pryor has much work to do as a passer before competing for Henton's job, let alone becoming a foregone conclusion to leap ahead of him.

Perhaps Tressel will use all three QB recruits on the field at once :p

Henton doesnt have a job yet.. unless backup QB is considered a job..

It will be a battle between Pryor and Henton in 2009.. I think it's silly to assume Pryor will ride the bench for three years just because Antonio has been in the system longer..

The best man will play and it's impossible at this point to tell which guy that will be..

Ohio State football

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The need for a tight end on the scout team produced an interesting piece of news yesterday: Ohio State's Antonio Henton has been practicing as the No. 2 quarterback. Whether Rob Schoenhoft, who has been Todd Boeckman's backup all season, will become a tight end permanently, including for the national championship game Jan. 7 against Louisiana State, remains to be seen.
"He is helping us with some tight end looks on scout team, but no, he hasn't changed his position," coach Jim Tressel said.

Do you mean the Justin Zwick situation where the highly touted, very hyped incoming freshman would win the starting job in his true freshman year over Krenzel and McMullen?

Another Henton vBet?

The one for Henton's plays in the tsun game obviously got sidetracked by the legal issue, and then the weather made things even worse. I wonder if we need a vbet for how many plays Henton might play in the BCS game.

I think it's silly to suggest that a fella with as much talent as Henton and a two year head-start on the position, isn't going to have a major advantage by 2009. Yeah, we all get it that Pryor is amazing...but do you remember that Henton was the HS player of the year in Georgia when he left? Do you remember his clips and what he did? He was also amazing and impressive.

I just get really excited reading more about this kid. He's got great physical attributes, 6'2 and 210-215.... Great size, great speed. And his series during the YSU game and that TD to washington just made me giddy inside. You can tell he wants to play, he was bouncing around in the pocket like sugar ray leonard. Its obvious good things will happen at the QB position even long after TB is gone. I'd myself would perfer to fastforward to 09 and just watch him play, I think he'll be just as, or more entertaining and dangerous than Troy.

That is saying A LOT, but we can only hope.
