QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

I actually had a similar thought the other day, Mils.... I though, how "genius" would it be if Tress was saying to Henton, "Son, here's what I want you to do... spend the rest of the season preparing for Michigan... film work, etc., because when we go up there, you're getting the ball. They won't have the first idea what to expect when you march out there and you'll know them backwards and forwards."

Of course, the "genius" of such a move is only such if it results in a win... if it would end in a loss, people would wonder what exactly is wrong with Tress going away from his starter in such a big game.

Reality is, while I like the idea of Henton - as he would give Michigan's awful D fits - I can't see Tress fixing something that isn't broken (assuming OSU lives up to what I'm expecting from them the rest of the year).

Ditto.

Here's where I differ from Tressel's philosophy of "not running up the scores". Why not look at it as practice time for the younger guys. I'm OK with playing with the second string OL, QB, RB, FB and TEs, but why not call genuine plays so that they get the practice instead of running up the middle, and quarterback draws? That way, the second string will also get game film for analysis. Sure, don't be an ass and call three timeouts to get the ball back when leading 45-0 in the half, but why not help your second string get valuable in-game experience with optimal play-calling...? I'll never get that.

Couldn't disagree more. Tressel demands more respect because of the class he displays on the field by not running up the score. And we are already getting the second string significant playing time by rotating lines and players throughout the entire game. So there is plenty of game film to go around. Unless you were referring to the people not on the two deep.

Run the 'bone with Henton, Beanie, and Saine just for Michigan - now THAT would be hilarious.

Realistically (hardly realistic, but lets go with it) I was thinking play Henton as a WR and have him throw on a double-pass or something.

Honestly, if our O-line play continues to improve and manages to play like they did for the scUM game last year, it won't matter who's at QB cause he'll have all day to throw.

Will U of M improve?? they probably will... but they're not going to get any faster and they're not going to take better tackling angles.

I will wait till I see them play PSU to say if they will give us trouble. If psu can run on them we will own the line of scrimmage (which I think is what would happen right now).

It would be interesting to see Henton play against Michigan, but there's no way that's going to happen. Can anyone here see coach Tressel saying... Well Antonio you have no experience what so ever but hell we're goin to start you in the roughest and most fierce rivalry in sports....(yeah I didn't think so either).

I really like what Henton would bring to our offense but lets be serious here.. by that time Boeckman will have a lot of games under his belt. Only way Henton starts is if Boeckman gets injured which we've seen isn't as far fetched as we think. I honestly believe right now Henton is ahead of Robbie regardless of what the depth chart shows.

Actually, wasn't it just the spread option that Appy ran that gave them fits?

I think it was simply the center-to-quarterback snap that began to give the Michigan defense fits in that game. After that, I don't know that it mattered what ApSt did with the ball.

If we see Henton vs scUM this year, it will be in a special situation (goal line or short yardage) where we have an option package in place.
You can bet the farm that Coach T will have something new saved just for The Game.
Saving an option play with an underutilized back for "The Game?"

Naaaaahhh ...
