Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2016)

Jon looks like the kind of guy who invites the neighborhood boys inside to watch gladiator movies.

Who's your new #1 right now?

Alabama, Ohio State, Louisville, or other?
I was thinking Alabama still. But the more I think about it, the more I agree with Mili from the game thread. Louisville has passed every eye test that's been thrown at them so far, and they're doing so while their QB is at a record shattering pace. Only reason why I have trouble making them #1, is it's difficult for me to move Alabama down two spots. There's no way Ohio State stays at 3 after tonight's performance.

1) Alabama
2) Ohio State
3) Sparty
4) Louisville

Cardinals look great but I'm not sure they'd hang with Bama or OSU. Remember when Oregon blasted FSU, only to turn around and get destroyed by Ohio State a couple of weeks later? Sparty actually surprised me, and I think that D would hold Louisville's offense in check. Jimbo Fisher is overrated as hell.

Edit: Also, I'm not sold on L.Jackson. Dude looked super inaccurate despite having amazing wheels. I think he'd throw a ton of picks against Bama, OSU, or Sparty.

I like your picks and reasoning for being both good and not like everyone else's.

Basing this all on performance and quality of opponent played.

Bama - They still look extremely talented. Easy to knock them down based on yesterday's game, that said we would have been beating our chests if we beat Ole Miss in their stadium in a prime time matchup. They are handling business the way they should.

Ohio State - 177 points for, only 2 offensive TDs against! Clearly the best secondary in college football right now as well. We toppled both the reigning MAC & Big 12 champs. None of the 3 games so far have been remotely close. If you want to call a 20-3 first half lead over Tulsa "close", lol, go for it.

Louisville - dominant performance over FSU. That said, is FSU really who we thought they were? Outside of FSU they throttled an FCS team and beat a hapless Cuse team that lost to USF 20-45 yesterday. We will see how skrong the ACC truly is as the season goes on.

Houston - they've toppled a top 5 Oklahoma team, beat an FCS team without their starting QB (42-0), and then struggled with a Cincy team for 3 quarters before winning 40-16. Ward Jr needs to step up big next week and start playing turnover free ball.

MSU - looked really good against the #14 team in the nation, but struggled the week before with Furman.

Clemson has struggled 2 of the 3 weeks with teams they should have beaten by more than just a TD or 2. Michigan showed how easily they can be beaten if you can keep your QB healthy for the full game. Really outside of the Top 4, it can all be a wash.

They beat Oklahoma. Calling Oklahoma a Top 5 team just isn't true. Then, again I like to look at the end of the season rankings to see judge this.

Same could be said about Louisvilles victory over FSU, Wisconsins victory over LSU, etc.

All we have to judge teams on right now is the spot they were ranked at when played, who they've played, and win margin. Sure things will look different at the end of the year but right now Oklahoma can say they have only been beaten by two top 5 teams. Likewise, Houston and OSU can only say they've beaten a Top 5/Top 15 team.

Jackson reminds me of Dennis Dixon from Oregon a few years back. He's a one man show but looking at him physically you wonder if he can go through a whole year healthy.

He's currently carried the ball 49 times of the teams total 122 (40%). That is 16 carries per game and tracking for around 200 in the season. As a point of reference Zeke carried in the high 200's the past 2 years.
