Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2016)

Jackson reminds me of Dennis Dixon from Oregon a few years back. He's a one man show but looking at him physically you wonder if he can go through a whole year healthy.

He's currently carried the ball 49 times of the teams total 122 (40%). That is 16 carries per game and tracking for around 200 in the season. As a point of reference Zeke carried in the high 200's the past 2 years.
Nice call on the comp. Jackson looks like a track star/hurdler out there. I keep thinking if he gets squared up a few times in a game he's in trouble. Luckily he's elusive as heck/has not played a defense with bad intentions.

I think he gets figured out, whether that happens in the ACC, I'm not sure. Until then, he's impressive to watch.

1) Alabama
2) Ohio State
3) Sparty
4) Louisville

Cardinals look great but I'm not sure they'd hang with Bama or OSU. Remember when Oregon blasted FSU, only to turn around and get destroyed by Ohio State a couple of weeks later? Sparty actually surprised me, and I think that D would hold Louisville's offense in check. Jimbo Fisher is overrated as hell.

Edit: Also, I'm not sold on L.Jackson. Dude looked super inaccurate despite having amazing wheels. I think he'd throw a ton of picks against Bama, OSU, or Sparty.
A team that struggled against an FCS team in its opener does not deserve to be #3...yet.

The FCS team they lost to would be favored against 40 FB teams...Iowa did drop 14 spots.

Agreed, NDSU is no slouch. Wentz just got drafted 1st round out of there. And they've won the last 5 NCs.

Colorado exposed them early, but didn't have the horses to withstand the Harbaugh death march of an offense (and I think their QB that was driving them up and down the field got hurt).

Once Colorados QB got injured and eventually pulled, it was game over.

exact same team as last year with less QB

only reason they are ranked this high is the media's love of swinging from harbaughs nuts
Most teams don't have the talent/depth to withstand the death march offense without a lot of breaks, but those that do (aka most top 25 teams) should beat them fairly easily.

The thing is, they have very few top 25 teams on the schedule this year.

So with the early developments of the season, mainly ND and the B12 being eliminated from the playoff picture already, I wonder if this might be the year that we see the first "at large" team make the playoffs?

Most likely scenario in my mind; SEC/B1G/ACC/Pac12 championship game upset leaves an unqualified conference champ standing and a 1 loss OSU/Bama/Clemson/Stanford type team on the outside.

The unwritten rule of conference champ=playoff spot would be put to the test big time. Especially if it were OSU or Bama.

and a dominant punt return unit (blocking and returning). That irst quarter was brutal though.

Peppers and crew were blowing their assignments and allowing long passing plays peeking into the backfield (against a very pedestrian running game that found lanes). The kick coverage was pretty leaky. Speight was just flipping it up to anyone and everyone in constant panic. OSU would have had about 2-3 TDs if they were the opposing defense tracking those wounded ducks.

They raced back into it with game and momentum changing blocked punts (some coming because CU refused to actually punt it above their blocker standing directly in front). They also have a pretty savage front on D and very talented pass catchers, so once UM regained its footing, nature took its course.

The UM running game finally had some success but so did CSU in week 1 against the buffs.
