Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2015)

As much as anything, it's evidence that it's early. Polls are just something that has been done for so many years now that it's part of the culture of CFB. The fact that one conference has so many is largely attributable to small sample size and the good record for one week.

Listening to talking heads go on about ten ranked teams as some sort of evidence of SEC dominance. The reality is at this point that it's evidence of stupidity, laziness and group think among the voters.

Not sure if you saw Stanford Steve's response when asked about the 10 SECSECSEC teams on ESPNU. He definitely did not tow the party line. I guess he has a segment on SVP-SC every night.

Seriously, who is Mississippi State providing sexual favors to? 12? Come on...I almost never root for LSU, but I hope Les stomps their goofy asses.
First, if you put Les Miles and anyone else (or anyschool else) in the same sentence, Les will always be the goofy one.
Second, LSU should curb stomp Miss State. They are very severely overrated right now, and I feel LSU is under rated. Similar talent gap as we saw with OSU/ VaTech, MissSt has some really good NFL guys, but LSU will be starting mostly NFL guys.

This is actually better than most rankings I've seen. They look like they base this off of games that have been played rather than hype and name. Some questionable things. Bama should be at the 2 or 3 spot, they dominated a pretty decent p5 opponent. USCe looked like a high school team, they would be lucky to be top 50 right now. As I've state before Miss St is not a top 25, but I have no problem with them in the 25-30 range right now. I feel they are up there just to make LSU look better when they beat the living shit out of them. Wiconsin and ASU are not currently top 25 material, they are both in the 25-35 range. They both got manhandled. UCLA looks a little low for my liking. They look like a 15ish school. What has West Virginia ever done to be considered a top 11 school?

Miss St does seem premature based upon what they lost, but beating the teams you referenced last year isn't a "bad" resume. I would think any team beating 3 or 4 Power 5 teams with winning records would qualify for top 25.

I can't believe Mississippi State is in there. What was their best win last year? 8-5 LSU, 8-5 Texas A&M or 8-5 Auburn? And they started this year with an 18 point win against a team that went 3-9 in C-USA last year. Ditto Tennessee who's best win was 7-6 South Carolina or 7-6 Iowa and they started out with a less than inspiring win over BG.

If Alabama and TCU are really Top 5 teams than Wisconsin and Minnesota are Top 25 teams.

Maryland is top-25.
Beat Iowa last year: check
Plays Bowling Green this week

It's one of those amazing cases where beating B1G teams is noteworthy for the SEC... but not for other B1G schools.

That seems to be exactly what they're going for here.
The laughable polls will put LSU in the top-10 team after demolishing "ranked Miss St."

FSU and Miami built "dynasty's" in the 90's off both being in the top 5 every pre-season, facing each other in September and demolishing the ACC/BigEast

Loser never pays for losing to rival and has all year to overcome a loss to top 5 team.

If John Cooper could have played scUM in September he'd have 2 or 3 NC's
