Preseason and Regular Season Polls (2015)

I don't care how bad Stanford beat Iowa, we destroyed a top-10 Michigan team on their home field and dominated a #8 Notre Dame team that Stanford itself needed a last-second FG at home to beat. We have just one loss, to an MSU team that was conference champion, a playoff team, and ended up #6. Stanford lost twice, at mediocre Northwestern that got killed in its bowl game and finished at #23, and at home to an Oregon team that finished just inside the top 20 in the AP poll. There's no reason why we should not have jumped them in the rankings...

Conference champ. And the 2 teams that played for the Big crown both got destroyed in their bowl game. Hard to overcome that.

Champ of a mediocre conference. And what MSU and Iowa has jack squat to do with what we did to Michigan and Notre Dame. Put Ohio State and Stanford on a neutral field and have both teams play their best, and Ohio State wins by 10-14 points.

Not when you've been pissed since the Sparty game...
Not sure why someone would be pissed only after MSU. This team was an enigma and simply above average team for a large portion of the year. I think BN27 noted fairly early on that he had accepted the notion that we wouldn't win it all. It was clear from very early on that it simple wasn't the same team from the prior year.

Agree.

I'd say it's harder to justify it, given Mili's points about who we beat vs who they beat, and who beat them vs who beat us.

Yeah maybe.

Lost to Northwestern. Hard to overcome that.

In any event, 2015 marks Ohio State's 25th top-5 finish in the AP poll, and the 7th time that the Buckeyes have finished at #4 (also 1969, 1974, 1975, 1979, 2003, and 2005).

Personally I think we are a top 3 team at a minimum. Further I think we could absolutely have beat either team last night. Specifically I don't think we lose on special teams play like Clemson did.

Only point was I am not surprised by final rank. Several reasons pollsters can point to. And our loss to Sparty was end of season compared to Stanfords early season loss to NW. That matters. And to say, top to bottom that the PAC is a crappy conference I think is debatable. The level of separation from conference to conference among the P5 is more narrow this year than recent memory.

Hopefully the Rose committee is ashamed of their decision.
But somehow, I think they're just counting the money all the Iowa faithful spent before they got exposed (like we all expected)

Why do you think it would be that close? LOL

I would lay a large amount of money on tOSU vs the Tree as long as I was certain Beck was going to be in the booth with his fake headset while Warriner's headset actually had batteries in it.

The Rose Bowl committee was ashamed of Stanford's band:

Rose Bowl reps denounce Stanford band's halftime show

The Stanford band, fresh off a travel suspension for unruly off-the-field behavior, was booed off the field by Iowa fans at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual following a halftime show that included simulated cow tipping and a reference to FarmersOnly.com, an online dating site.

.
The Stanford band was barred from travel during the 2015 regular season because a university investigation found the band "violated university policies regarding alcohol, controlled substances, hazing and/or sexual harassment." The band successfully applied for reinstatement in December, and the Rose Bowl was its first appearance away from Stanford Stadium this season.
