Premier League (Official Thread)

Three clean sheets in four games, three wins in four games for Spurs. Glad to see Sigurdsson get the brace. I think he's a good player with a Dempsey-esqe knack for turning up in the right spots and finding the back of the net, but last season he was an unlucky victim of the woodwork and some world-class saves by opposing keepers. Hopefully seeing the ball go in the back of the net a couple times gives him a boost in confidence.

Lloris had a bit of a bad week for France, and had a brain fart today too - misjudging the ball and punching it clear just before it was to cross into the penalty area. He was only booked, but if he had been sent off it would have made for an interesting situation. It was after the 80th minute and Spurs had used all three subs. I wonder which outfield player would've been given the gloves and shirt to finish out the match.

I think Moyes is in over his head with this position, as is Ed Woodward.

The question becomes, will United score a goal against City (shutout against Liverpool and Chelsea earlier this season).

Shots are 15-3 (4-0 on goal) following the fourth City goal.

What an interesting week 5.

Last nights massacre, brutal. Now that's not as bad as two years ago, but still, I can say little positive things about the performance from United. I think the one shining star for them would be Rooney, but otherwise that was an ass kicking. Fellaini just looked a little lost out there, trying too much but accomplishing very little. The whole aura that is MUFC just hasn't really shown, you don't see the same intimidating factor that they are known for. If there's one team that needed to be aggressive during the transfer window, it's United. Also, how important is RVP to their campaign? It's only week five, and the sky isn't falling, but they need to get some confidence. The face Liverpool on Wednesday in the League Cup tournament, odds are Liverpool will not field their full force as the focus is to get to fourth place, however, odds are you will see Suarez in that match, but it is al Old Trafford.

Liverpool finally went Liverpool, not that I am saying it's all over, I mean they are still missing the most important element to their offense, and you could really see how much they needed it last night. I give the team a lot of credit, they have done well without Suarez, but last night having to play behind, they couldn't get an opening for Sturridge. It's understandable, Sturridge was never intended to be the primary option, and he's done well in the role, but sometimes doing just enough isn't enough. They have one more week before Suarez can return to the Premier League, and the next game will be against Sunderland who just sacked their manager, so hopefully they can get a win and move past the weekends ugliness.

The team who has rebounded and impressed the hell out of me so far is the Gunners, while I may hate them, they are starting strong. A slight trip up in the beginning and it's just been go since then, but like I said, it's only week 5.

And one last note, the call for people to want their manager sacked after a loss is getting just plain stupid. Week one it was a call for Arsenes head, last week some Chelsea fans were even calling for the return of Rafa, you know, the guy who they held a protest in front of the clubs HQ against, and now it's United fans.

Suarez back in the starting line up for Liverpool, along side of Sturridge as Rodgers goes with dual strikers at Sunderland. After last week's turd versus Southampton at home 3 points are needed in the Stadium of Light today.
