Premier League (Official Thread)

The most frustrating thing about today's loss for Spurs was that it wasn't even very Spursy. Usually when they lose to Arsenal there's some crazy shit that happens like somebody getting sent off or going down early and going balls out to chase the game. There wasn't any of that today, no weird circumstance to blame it on - Arsenal were just better. Spurs were outworked and out-thought, especially in the midfield.

Spurs are in dire need of a #10. Maybe Eriksen can be that guy, but he wasn't ready for today's match. I would have liked to see Lewis Holtby to start instead of Dembele and I thought the subs came a bit late.

Sad to see Capoue get stretchered off. He wasn't that good today, but he was excellent in the first two matches and Spurs really needed him while Sandro continues to build up to full fitness after his injury from last season. They've suddenly gone from pretty good depth at the #8 position to being gossamer thin.

All of that said, none of the problems I saw are things that can't be fixed. I think the return fixture will look very different once new players are settled and have a better understanding of the league and the derby.

Since Suarez got himself suspended, again, LFC (in the EPL) has gone W-D-W-W-W-W-W. Of that, the last 4 premier league matches have been 1-0. It would be nice to see more goals scored, but its going to be tough to mess with those results...

Someone was joking with me Sunday that it took two league games for David Moyes to turn Manchester United into Everton (i.e. pragmatic, stagnant).

Saw on "ESPN FC TV" that it was the first time United have been shut out in two consecutive league matches since 2007. Gab Marcotti was asking where was Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez (a lot of people are asking where the heck Kagawa is).

They won't do it, but I think Moyes will be sacked within three years (but they probably won't do it).

We'll see, it's his third game and he's faced what many see as the team to beat, Chelsea, and had to go into a place he's never won at. Next week they have Crystal Palace, and then City, I look forward to both since CP and MUFC have a bit of history, and City should be a test. After that they have some smooth sailing for a while with time to get everything back in order. Losing Fergie is going to be a pretty big adjustment, it's going to be an interesting year for them.

In the middle of all of this though, they have another meeting with LFC and a champions league match.

Liverpool sign Moses, Ilori and Sakho - ESPNFC
Liverpool have completed three deals on the morning of transfer deadline as Victor Moses joined the club on loan following the permanent signings of defenders Thiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho.
Moses, 22, joined Chelsea from Wigan Athletic last summer for £9 million, but despite scoring ten goals in 42 appearances for the Blues last term he has been sent out on loan by new boss Jose Mourinho.
Ilori, a 20-year-old centre-back joins from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of around £7 million, while Sakho has left Paris Saint-Germain to sign a long-term contract with the Reds for a fee in the region of £12 million.
