Premier League (Official Thread)

Shit effort, shit attitude, shit focus = thoroughly deserved shit result.

That was like watching the Gold Cup final all over again.

I'll give you the timeline of this match from the Tottenham perspective:

  • Score two soft goals
  • Fold like a deck chair at even the hint of effort or physicality by Arsenal, roll around on the floor a bit
  • Fail to clear your lines, and for good measure, send the ball into the center of your own attacking end when possible
  • Stand flat on one foot and limit your effort to lunging toe pokes as Arsenal players run circles around you
  • Stop showing up at all. Take a shape as a team where there are somehow no players present in the attack and no players present on the back line simultaneously.
They were arrogant, entitled, lazy, soft and absent-minded. There was not one man in the side that wasn't shit. Congrats to Scott Parker though. He at least seemed to care enough to show some malicious intent out there, and for his reward he got to leave early and won't have to be a part of next week's shit show against Manchester United.

van Persie bagged brace as Arsenal defeat Liverpool at Anfield 2-1. Huge win for Arsenal in the fight for 4th place. Liverpool dominated almost the entire match, but had a penalty & rebound saved not to mention countless other chances that went awry.

van Persie now has 25 Premier League goals in 27 games.

Not soon enough. The season is a fucking train wreck.

Another half a season done and Chelsea need a new manager. I'm beginning to wonder if they don't need a new owner too. Chelsea are slipping back to the pack of hopeless non-contenders. What does 50 million pounds get you these days, 4 goals?

Looks like no Bale or Van der Vaart for Spurs today. Rooney back in for United.

Lineups:

Spurs - Friedel, Walker, King, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Sandro, Livermore, Modric, Saha & Adebayor

United - De Gea, Jones, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Young, Scholes, Carrick, Nani, Rooney & Welbeck

Game is on Fox Soccer Channel and is about to kickoff in a few minutes.

Here's an idea: Let's not mark Wayne Rooney on a corner. Brilliant.

Kyle Walker made an half ass attempt to follow Rooney's run. Walker was even pushing Rooney down when he headed that ball. Tottenham really outplayed United in that half. This should make for an interesting 2nd half.

Walker started with his hands on his hips too. I don't think that's the position you want to be caught in when you're trying to marks somebody on a set piece.

I'm also hearing some commentators say that Spurs' goal should have been allowed. That's BS, and I'm rooting for them. Was it an intentional handball? Probably not. Did he gain an advantage from it? You bet. If that ball doesn't touch his arm it bounces away from his body for a probable clearance rather than onto his heel to be flicked in.
