Premier League (Official Thread)

United romped Wolves 5-0 to go four points clear of City & more importantly, put a +5 on there goal differential in case it comes down to a tie. City have a game in hand, having not played this weekend and are currently at a +49 on goal differential while United have a +46 goal differential. Manchester derby is April 30th, 3rd to last game of the Premier League season for both teams. That will most likely decide the winner.

Tonight's match between Chelsea and Manchester City is absolutely massive. There are many questions to be answered

Can Manchester City move to within a point of United? Will Carlos Tevez make his first match appearance in ages? Will Chelsea continues its sublime run of form? Will Fernando play well following his 2 goal, 2 assist performance from the weekend?

I'm excited, as you can tell

http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/st...muamba-was-dead-lengthy-resuscitation-efforts

Dr. Andrew Deaner, a cardiologist who was at the game, leapt from his seat in the crowd and rushed onto the field to help Muamba.

"If you're going to use the term miraculous, I guess it could be used here," he said.

Deaner later went to visit Muamba, whose response to Deaner showed there was reason for optimism.

"I whispered into his ear, 'What's your name?' " Deaner said. Muamba gave his name.

"I said, 'I understand you're a very good footballer.'

"And he said, 'I try.' "

Not to mention Spurs home to Stoke, Everton hosting Arsenal, and Liverpool in London to take on QPR. Great day for football with a lot of action among teams at the top of the table.

Spurs are a complete joke right now. The whole Harry for England thing has been a distraction and it doesn't help that he's been experimenting with tactics ever since that whole thing took off. Bale needs to stick to the left side to provide width and make his pace more useful. And for shit's sake, they all need to start marking somebody, anybody.

Set pieces are horrible. It used to be they just couldn't take them. Now they can't defend them either. I don't care who the next manager will be at this point, I just want somebody who can take a fucking corner without gently floating a backspinning ball past the back post every damn time.

A month ago you would have penciled them in for the Champions League and were the best team on paper remaining in the FA Cup. Amazing to think now that their chances of accomplishing either of those tasks is about the same as their chances of coming away completely empty handed.

United three points clear of City after struggling to a 1-0 victory over Fulham. City were held 1-1 on the weekend at Stoke after this goal of the season contender from Peter Crouch.

Spurs finally showed up and decided to win a league game. Glad they stopped the tailspin for now. With Arsenal's loss yesterday, the three points Spurs earned today brought them back into the discussion for third place while keeping Chelsea at arm's length.

They have apparently discovered the "set piece" in the last few days. This revolutionary method or scoring goals has been used to great effect to win in their last two matches. Let's hope nobody else catches on to this.

The game against Swansea also featured the rarest of all football occurrences - an accurate cross with power from Aaron Lennon leading to an accurate finish with power from Adebayor. It couldn't have been more surprising if it had been a cross sent in by a unicorn to an awaiting minotaur on a unicycle.

Friedel made a spectacular save on a tremendous strike bending away from him into the upper corner around the 50' mark. He's still doing well for an old fart.

United can move five points clear of City today if they win @ Blackburn. Kickoff is at 3pm on ESPN2 or ESPN3.com if you can't get to a TV.

City were dreadful against Sunderland going down 3-1 at home, but apparently the argument between Balotelli & Kolarov in the 60th minute over a free kick inspired both of them to score within a minute of each other in the 80th to tie it. Thought they were going to win it after they took all the momentum but they were pretty fortunate to even get a point after playing so awful for 80 minutes.
